Do you use the Ooma VoIP telephone device? I understand that, once the hardware is installed, telephone is free... except for taxes. I'd like to ask just how much do those taxes amount to in TV?

We have had Ooma for over two years.
Quality and reliability is the same as a land line phone.
We pay $3.49 per month for the taxes. Unlimited use nation wide. That is down from almost $40.00 per month with the local landline service.
If you have the multiple phones with a base set like Uniden (and others). Just plug the base set into Ooma and use all the phones thoughout the house as you did before.

$4.24 for the tax. But we upgraded to premier...$10 for that plus .60 more cents for the tax, so $14.84. Premier service allows call forwarding, and unlimited blacklisting for unwanted calls, plus no more robo calls. Worth it!

Carla - one thing to be VERY aware of with any of the Internet based phone services is that 911 DOES NOT WORK out of the box. I am not certain what county you are in, but you would want to make certain that your address and name is properly listed in the local 911 database.
Dont forget, just because you know there are limitations a painter or worker in your home would not. They pick up a phone and call 911...
