Things To Think About When Moving To The Villages
Last Updated 12/19/2008

For many months I put out a post on TOTV of things to think about when moving to the Villages. It was mostly for the new TOTV subscribers but had updated information for all Villagers.

With the assistance of the TOTV talk hosts, we turned it into a permanent post under "Nuts and Bolts of the Villages". I personally think that it got lost and is not read by the intended audience as I think it should be.

Because of that I am going to repost at least monthly in the General Discussion area.

Preamble

After I moved here, I compiled a list of things to keep in mind when moving to the Villages. I hope these help. Most of these are strictly my thoughts and experiences and can be considered, rejected, or talked over with others that moved to the Villages. Please check with the sales reps, neighbors, insurance reps, financial advisers, etc before making any decisions based on these items.

This information is just to help you when you move. They have been helpful to friends and many members of TOTV that have moved to the Villages. I do not personally endorse any companies that I mention in this document. How is that for taking the fifth!

After I first posted this list, I received input from many TOTV members. I have added their input to my original list. My thanks to them for their input. After reading some of the posts in other areas, I sensed some confusion so I have added info about amenity fees, bonds and property taxes. I continue to update the list when I see new posts that contain topics that need covering. If you saved or printed the list, I would suggest that you do the same for the revised list.

I have changed the format of the list. I have put it in order by categories. I hope it makes for easier reading.

I had to move the list to my personal web site because I exceeded the character limit on TOTV. If you want to print this document, please use your browser print facility.

Please go to http://users.thevillages.net/wprovencher/villagenotes.htm to see the list.

If you have any problems please send me a PM.

Thanks,
Z

ZCaveman,
Thanks so much for this... I've printed it out to have a hard copy to refer to. This information saves a lot of time and answers a lot of questions, and it's all in one place.

Thanks, great information - need to get all to just go to your info and not keep asking same questions (like I did).

wprovencher.

Bon Jour Mousouir? If I guess right any French Canadian heritage? I'm a former Montrealer.

I just read your post on "Things"---- "THANK YOU" Very informative. I think I know most of these items on an individual basis but to have it at ones finger tips as I printed it out is of great help to us. Particularly the links.

We have owned a Designer Home in Belevedre since March of 2004 and have had it rented out most of that time with the unfortunate problem of not being able to use it ourselves, but we did rent other homes while vacationing in TV.

Were hoping to move down perminately around the 3rd week of Aug pending the sale of our house in CT. This list of yours I just printed will be of great value.

Larry & Dottie

Very handy info to have. :coolsmiley:

There is so much to think about when making the decision whether or not to move to TV. I'm gathering all the good information I can.

Bump is only a way to put the post back to the top of the unview posts. It is usually done when somebody wants to put an older post back in current circulation.

You might also see "ttt." Which means "To The Top."

Well, now that my wife and I have signed a contract to build a home in The Villages I guess it's time to break out the Zcaveman "To Do" list and get busy on some of these things. Boy, there sure is a lot of items on this list. :22yikes::22yikes::22yikes:

ZCaveman-Thanks again for the list.
