"civil rights era leaders"?
Huh...I wonder if Rev Sharpton is going down to help his fellow countrymen with recovery from those floods in Houston? He is probably going to wait for the water to recede...

And before today who ever heard of Tubman?
Nobody.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harriet_Tubman
All one can conclude is why is this person being chosen over all the known heros that made America great!
The majority is going to take another one in the chops.
And who in their right (or left) mind would challenge the choice and start another race debate of national proportion.
These are the kinds of actions that should be reviewed with the fat fat congress that SUPPOSEDLY represent us.
Does somebody in the treasury owe the black movement a favor or what?
If and when they ever make the change every American should refuse to accept them and hope the bill goes the way of the Susan B. Anthony coin....in a bag on the shelf at the treasury.

First, if you do not know of Harriett Tubman, you are extremely ignorant about American history.
Second, there IS a black man in the group of people pictured on the back of the $2 bill. Surely, you have received $2 bills as change from your visits to strip clubs.
The reason Susan Anthony coins are not popular is the size was too often confused with a quarter - and a paper dollar is much easier to use and carry.
Why the fuss at changing pictures on bills? As long as the $20 buys the same amount, I do not care whose is on it

So within three years the U-S Treasury stopped making them.

It was not because the coin featured a woman.
Kids have been studying Harriet Tubman since at least the 80's. First she was going to go on the $10 dollar bill but the Broadway musical Hamilton made him popular again so they put Tubman on the $20 instead.
Stonewall Jackson made his fortune with slaves and was well known for fighting American Indians. So he is not too popular in some circles. When they asked the treasury why Jackson was first put on the bill they did not have an answer. That seems hard to believe, doesn't it?

When I was typing the post I was going to put in a qualifier knowing all about why the coin was not popular. However that was not the point.
The point was don't use it it will go away!!! Nothing to do with coins vs bills.
Nothing to do with woman or women!

I will not shoot the messenger - HOWEVER, Andrew Jackson is the "dead President" on the $20 bill. He was the 7th President of the USA. He was, as you stated, very wealthy with his plantation and hundreds of slaves as well as an Indian fighter. Andrew Jackson died in 1845. The Civil War was not for about 20 more years.
Stonewall Jackson was a Southern general and second greatest only to Robert E. Lee. He was accidentally shot by a Confederate sentry and died in 1863.

Who cares? I hardly ever use currency anyway. I normally use plastic for just about any purchase. If having that woman on the money makes liberals feel all warm and fuzzy, just give them a bone. They will have a tantrum and accuse conservatives of racism, sexism and all kinds of other nasty traits if they don't get their way. Gotta give the spoiled kids a bone once in a while for they will destroy the house.

I would make a wager you could ask 10 people and they would not know the name.
Make it 20 or more.

I passed Harriet Tubman's little white house many a time over the years as it sits not too far from the lake and down the road from St. Joseph's cemetery . Also drove by William H. Seward's mansion often which sits in downtown .
Harriet Tubman was an important component of the Underground Railroad but not the leading component. And William H. Seward Secretary of State, purchaser of Alaska and founder of the Republican Party under Abraham Lincoln help guide us through the civil war.
The fact is that the 1964 Civil Rights Act was the beginning of "Black Lives Matter" only movement and has since then been fueled by misguided white guilt. I say this because people of all colors, creeds, national origins have dealt with the same issues of mistreatment since the beginning of time.
Its not fair but its the human experience and eventually decent living people say enough is enough and equilibrium takes hold. But should we go beyond that? Should balance be turned on its head? Should emotional over reach overtake logic? Should those once offended now be allowed to offend with impunity? Should only Black Lives Matter matter?
The original plan was to place a woman on the $10 bill. Alexander Hamilton is placed in higher regard than Andrew Jackson, a slave owner. And since it became a crime to display the Confederate flag and all things southern fell out of vogue, except their warm weather and lower taxes who better to display than Harriet Tubman. Consider by the way that confederate soldiers were legally American war veterans
Is it coincidence by the way that the $20 bill is the most circulated bill in America will now display a woman of color. Is it wrong?
I felt an affection for that little white house every time I passed it . A sense of pride that America and Americans would always right the wrongs, always do what was right and just in the long run.
However because of the over reach by the left on this issue of race betrays Harriet Tubman because many of us won't know if she really is on the $20 bill for her accomplishments or if its some type of atonement ? I say this because i wonder why given his great accomplishment during those civil war years Willaim H Seward was not considered or countless other American men or women who have served this nation with distinction.
In fact I wonder why not place "the unknown soldier" on this most circulated bill?

It IS being "stolen" from us. Actually, there are racist black people actively working to take away "whiteness". They're also sending us to the bottom, where they are, in every measurement that is good. Every measure of "good things" is going down and every measure of the "bad things" is going up as we become darker and darker.

Skin color is just the outside, the important differences are inside. Blacks are genetically of a different line. As their numbers increase, crime, poverty, violence ALL increase. Show me ONE case where it hasn't. Show me one case where a majority of blacks community is better than a majority of white community. Show me ONE instance where having lots of minorities made anywhere better. Show me the black school that's the BEST school in the nation.
Diversity destroys...

"In other words, ''white people'' do not share a common genetic heritage; instead, they come from different lineages that migrated from Africa and Asia. Such mixing is true for every race. ''All living humans go back to one common ancestor in Africa,'' explains Paabo. ''But if you look at any history subsequent to that,'' then every group is a blend of shallower pedigrees. So, he says, ''I might be closer in my DNA to an African than to another European in the street.'' Genetics, he concludes, ''should be the last nail in the coffin for racism.''

While our ancestors have been around for about six million years, the modern form of humans only evolved about 200,000 years ago.
Now, after studying ancient rocks in southern West Greenland, one team of researchers says that modern plate tectonics, with its subduction zones, spreading centers, earthquakes and all the other features we're familiar with, probably started about 3.2 billion years ago (the Earth is about 4.6 billion years old). Before that, a much different set of processes shaped the Earth's surface, the researchers say.

We're all from Africa.
They came from Africa, but not central and south negroid africa. We are two distinct species, we separated long ago from a common african ancestor. There was a common hominid, there was a split, negroid, "us". We spread out, conquered the world, they stayed and stagnated. A common ancestor is all that we share in common.

We ARE different. Skin color one of hundreds, maybe thousands. Genetically, we a different. Physiologically, we are different. Psychologically, we are different. Lincoln was right when he lamented we'd never live together peacefully, we're too different.

And 50,000 years ago, things REALLY changed for one group, the group that left africa, and they went on to rule the planet. Everything you see around you, came from the "white westerners". Go into central africa, it still looks the same. They don't have the ambition to better things that "we" have. It's not racism, it's facts.
I'm still waiting for anyone to give me the "black villages". You'll never find it because as a group, they're incapable of creating it. They're still 50,000 years of evolution behind. In my personal opinion, they're just one of millions of evolutionary dead ends.

"Most people are explicitly racists," he says. "In parts of the world — so called educated, so-called western society — we've learned that it is not polite to be racist, and so often we don't express racist views, but nevertheless I've given lectures on this subject, and members of the National Academy of Sciences come up to me afterwards and say, but native Australians, they're so primitive. Racism is one of the big issues in the world today. Racism is the big social problem in the United States."
So why are people racists? According to Jared, racism involves the belief that other people are not capable of being educated. Or being human — that they're different from us, and they're less than human. It was through his work in New Guinea for the last 30 years that convinced him that it's not true. "'They' are smarter than we are," he says. But perhaps the main reason why people resort to racist explanations, he notes, is that they don't have another answer. Until there's a convincing answer why history really took the course that it did, people are going to fall back on the racist explanation. Jared believes that the big world impact of his ideas may being in demolishing the basis for racist theories of history and racist views.

I'm quite familiar with most of the "they're equal" literature, yes, I read Guns, Germs, and Steel, The Bell Curve, among others. The equality argument just doesn't hold up.
As a whole these "people" just can't make it in a modern western society. Native American Indians, most of them never made it in "white" society and they "live" like cattle on reservations. Central American Indians who they've tried to bring out of the jungles and into modern societies don't prosper. Not until several generations of mixed breeding. Blacks have never moved out of poverty and violence. Africa today has genocide and slavery. All this talk is just that...talk. SHOW me successful blacks. Show me a tribe brought out of the Amazon or New Guinea who is thriving. They're not. You're peeing on my leg and you're telling me it's raining. We've become, through isolation, different species, like Darwins finches. Each specialized and different. We refuse to admit it and work WITH it, instead, we fight our strengths and weaknesses.
There IS something to be said about Neanderthal DNA in ALL human populations except negroids. Maybe the hybrid became just a little smarter, a little more ambitious. We're as close to chimpanzee DNS as we are to non-hybrid negroid DNA. Closer in some cases. It's said "we" have between 1-5% Neanderthal DNA, we're only 2% removed from Chimps.
I'm NOT saying blacks are chimps, I'm saying there is diversity in DNA among humans. I'm saying maybe the Neanderthal DNA added something critical that "we" have and they don't.
I'm saying there are genetic differences, physiological differences, psychological differences, ALONG with the skin coloring and the myriad of other physical differences like hair, ears, nose, musculature, bones, etc. There's a reason we look and act so different. It's genetic.

I'm quite familiar with most of the "they're equal" literature, yes, I read Guns, Germs, and Steel, The Bell Curve, among others. The equality argument just doesn't hold up.
Give me something to read that supports your argument.

The Bell Curve supports your argument not mine.
"The Bell Curve: Intelligence and Class Structure in American Life is a 1994 book by psychologist Richard J. Herrnstein and political scientist Charles Murray, in which they argue that human intelligence is substantially influenced by both inherited and environmental factors and is a better predictor of many personal dynamics, including financial income, job performance, birth out of wedlock, and involvement in crime than are an individual's parental socioeconomic status, or education level. They also argue that those with high intelligence, the "cognitive elite", are becoming separated from those of average and below-average intelligence.
The book was controversial, especially where the authors wrote about racial differences in intelligence and discussed the implications of those differences. The authors were misreported throughout the popular press as arguing that these IQ differences are genetic. In fact, they wrote in chapter 13: "It seems highly likely to us that both genes and the environment have something to do with racial differences." The introduction to the chapter more cautiously states, "The debate about whether and how much genes and environment have to do with ethnic differences remains unresolved."
The book's title comes from the bell-shaped normal distribution of intelligence quotient (IQ) scores in a population.
Shortly after publication, many people rallied both in criticism and defense of the book. A number of critical texts were written in response to the work."
How did you not know this if you read the book?

Why do you have to read something by someone else? Can't you form your own opinion by viewing reality? Look around, where is the "black villages"? Where is the black "top school" Where can you find anything "great" that is 99.9% black. You won't. You'll find athletic records because THAT is what they're good at, THAT is what they were designed for. Remember, they never evolved past hunter gatherer, no great cities, no wheel, no written language. They ran and climbed trees. That's still what they excel at. Not differential equations. They wouldn't be in college without quotas and affirmative action. They wouldn't be working in most jobs without quotas and affirmative action. Everything I see about them screams "they're different". Is the black person ever "the guru", the go to person? Not often.
Show me something that supports YOUR argument. Everything I'd show you, you'd just dismiss as racist. Because that's what they label the truth.

Yes...genes...genes...genes. Then the doubly whammy of having to live with other morons.
The BEST evidence that blacks are "different"...ALL the lists of the "best" and "worst". Best standard of living, no black countries...lowest standard, all black countries. Best educated, no black countries...least educated, all black countries. Most violent, all black countries...least violent, no black countries. Pick something, anything. The "best" will be white or asian, the worst, black.
THIS is what taught me...you know what...maybe I'm being conned.

We're all from Africa.
What drives scientist more than anything is conceit. Its why humanity is blessed that scientist redily admit that science is never settled. What is true now in a moment can be tossed aside with the discovery of another fossil, bacteria, sub atomic particle, planet species. Scientist still know little about our land mass and oceans now, can't predict the weather accurately for the next six months but make claim of climate change, man's origin thousand of years ago, etc. But I digress

There are MANY physical and physiological differences between the races. It's all propaganda so we don't develop a "caste system" like india with blacks as the "untouchables".

Why do you have to read something by someone else? Remember, they never evolved past hunter gatherer, no great cities, no wheel, no written language.
The reason I do research is because by observation you can only learn so much. I need to go to experts all the time, doctors, lawyers and professors.
The very same question you ask is asked by a New Guinea tribe member in the book and video I posted Guns, Germs and Steel. The tribe members called all of the equipment, cameras, boats, technology------ cargo. He asked the author why do we have cargo and they don't.
Watch the video or read the book for the answer.
I'm answering you honestly and respecting you. I don't really expect anyone that is not curious or open minded to look into it. I hope that doesn't describe you. I'm not exactly sure why I am trying to make a difference.

I'm very familiar, read the book, not the movie.
Observation IS science. You don't ignore what you observe, you make a theory about why. Why is this observation happening?
You may need to go to "experts", but in this case there really is no need. I don't need an expert to tell that as the their numbers go up, quality of life for everyone goes down. You can argue the WHY, but not the WHAT. We know what happens, we can argue about why.
My "theory" is they are a distinct genetic line. The latest research shows that EVERY other human "race" has Neanderthal DNA. Maybe it's the key, lets talk about it.
It's not "cultural" as in "white peoples fault", because even where there aren't white people, blacks still fail. Central Africans still live as they did when Europeans first arrived. Jamaica, Haiti, S Africa, all once "paradises" are now in ruins since blacks took over self governance. These are facts. Only many people forbid us from talking about them. We can ONLY say good about them.
I know WHY things are the way they are, we'd have a permanent underclass, an official "caste system". Because that's the only way to handle it. Socializing isn't working. The black slums are more dangerous than ever. Look at the shootings in Chicago, St Louis, Detroit. Our "equals" live there? Our "equals" live and act like this? Really?
Being poor doesn't make one violent, but being violent will make one poor.
It's not "us", it's not "our fault".

Explain why the people of New Guinea do not have cargo?
The books say they worship things hoping to get "cargo", "stuff", too.
The REAL reason?
They didn't develop technology. They had crude sticks and stones, but they never "learned" to really think outside the box and make something synthetic, A key to the white europeans success was his ability for abstract thought and true invention. We had 50,000 years of living in a civilization where smarts got you somewhere. Living in complex societies that consisting of more than the alpha male and his minions doing what they want. Echo's of our inner cities?
I don't remember everything I've read, sorry to disappoint you, it's been over 10 years.
They had no cargo because they were incapable of making any. To them, we were the God with cargo.
Why mention P.N.G? This is not a well functioning place...
Papua New Guinea is a parliamentary democracy whose nearly 7.5 million people speak over 840 different languages. A year-long constitutional crisis subsided in August 2012 with the reelection of Prime Minister Peter O’Neill, whose People’s National Congress Party won the most seats in parliament. Sir Michael Somare, O’Neill’s chief rival, agreed to form a joint government. In 2014, O’Neill was embroiled in a legal battle over alleged misuse of government funds. Gold and copper mining, oil, and natural gas dominate the formal economy, but the vast majority of Papua New Guineans depend on subsistence hunting or agriculture and the informal economy. Australia provides about US$480 million a year in assistance.

I vaguely remembered reading something that answers your question. I poked around and found it and I will be providing more information as I find it.
https://www.edge.org/conversation/jared_diamond-why-did-human-history-unfold-differently-on-different-continents-for-the
"Most people are explicitly racists," he says.
Jared believes that the big world impact of his ideas may being in demolishing the basis for racist theories of history and racist views.
read the rest and tell me what you think
I seek the truth about everything in this universe but human kind is so limited. for example you offer a reading by Jared Diamond, yet in his third paragraph he begins "In his new theories of human development".... Science is fascinating and scientist have made great contributions to mankind but so much is still theory, guessing, trying to fit fossil finds into a great puzzle to explain man's evolution...if man really evolved.
Scientist vacillate on so much because science is settled under the next discovery comes along. Heck they can't even agree on what constitutes a healthy diet.
So over the years I have been conditioned to react to news of a new scientific discovery that its fact today but what about tomorrow?

I am not an activist one way or another. All I want to do is treat people with respect and in turn a person has an obligation to earn respect....
A number of years ago I lived in a southern city still very racially divided. I had a department to run but was confronted with racial issues that divided my employees. So one by one I sat with each employee trying to promote a collaborative team essential to reach the department's goals.
All of my employees were polite but I felt less than honest, except one and his reply concerning blacks was "they all sub-human". His remarks awaken me to what I was dealing with so my coaching approach ceased and I made it clear to all of them that their personal bias had no place in our office. If I found their personal bias interfered with the accomplishing of department goals it was a performance failing . The subject of my efforts revolved around a young black man I hired who had a master's degree as did his wife.
As I stated I am not an activist. My parents taught me to be fair and honest and judge people based on their behavior/merit . This employee was a good man seeking upward mobility. He left this city, his wife's home and they returned to his northern roots.
People must earn respect. he did. Let me end by referencing the myraid reality shows on television which include people of all races. do you think they have earned your respect? do they behave the way they do because of their color? Plainly speak trash comes in a variety of colors,economic-social backgrounds
In that same vein color should not be a reason for preferential treatment as to education, promotions, etc and in that the government missed the mark with overreaching goals that went from equal opportunity to equal outcomes. and that in my view is the "rub" for many people

Even though the bias was true? Be honest, how would you "rate" the effectiveness of the two groups? Would you have rather have had just one type working for you...be honest.
TV has all races because they were FORCED to show all races. And now, with so many on welfare and being "easy marks", they're advertised to to get some of that easy money. It has nothing to do with them earning respect.
They don't behave as they do because of their color, color is just ONE difference of thousands. Color is just an easy way to identify them. The differences run VERY deep.
Sure it does, anyone CAN be "trashy", but they're pretty much ALL trashy.
Yes, that IS the rub...people clearly unqualified moving in via quotas and affirmative action. Makes other hate them, not accept them. Because we ALL know they're NOT our equals.
We're NOT going to "get along", Lincoln said that 150 years ago too, and it's as true today as then. Segregation IS the only workable solution.

Treasury Secretary Jack Lew on Wednesday will announce plans to both keep Alexander Hamilton on the front of the $10 bill and to knock Andrew Jackson off the front of the $20 in favor of Harriet Tubman, sources tell POLITICO.
Lew is expected to roll out a set of changes that also include putting leaders of the women’s suffrage movement on the back of the $10 bill, and incorporating civil rights era leaders and other important moments in American history into the $5 bill.
Hamilton to stay on $10; Tubman replacing Jackson - POLITICO (http://www.politico.com/story/2016/04/treasurys-lew-to-announce-hamilton-to-stay-on-10-bill-222204)

I do not have any problem with the most visible fighter involved in the Underground Railroad on the $20 bill ironically Andrew Jackson will be on the other side. Harriet Tubman (http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/aia/part4/4p1535.html)

Your parents, as you said, taught you to judge people based on their behaviour and merit. If you do this with people of colour, try and get over your attitude of the LGBT community. You do not have to agree with it but do try to respect the people as individuals.
Again, excellent posting.

I do not have any problem with the most visible fighter involved in the Underground Railroad on the $20 bill ironically Andrew Jackson will be on the other side. Harriet Tubman (http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/aia/part4/4p1535.html)
Sure there is. This country was founded on taken land. For their own sake, the natives should have killed us instead of helped us. Agreed? The natives lost their land, their nation, because they let in and helped the very first explorers and settlers. Had they killed them all, at least we'd have been more "civilized" when we eventually found them with vast exploring armadas. What do you think? How much longer could native societies have lasted if Columbus and any later single explorers hadn't returned? 100 years? More? We invaded them, plain and simple.
Being kind destroyed the native americans. We eventually overwhelmed them and took over. They let themselves be overwhelmed until it was too late for them to stop it.
Can't you see the parallel with blacks and Hispanics? We bring them here, we help them, give them BETTER then we give "our own" with affirmative action and government programs.
They will eventually breed us out and change everything. We're letting them take over. Already more "minority" children register for public school than white kids. A 5 year in the making, immigrant baby boom IS happening. It WILL change everything.
It seems all I hear about is black this and black that. The Yahoo front page is FULL of stories about blacks. Our society is slowly changing into "them". Our kindness, like the natives, is slowly killing our culture, our society. Instead of them "invading" violently, we're willingly, even helping them, let it happen.
I want to keep the "white america culture", ways, and looks.
I liked the 50s, MOST women did too. Most women don't want to HAVE to have a career. Many feel they have to because the traditional family is gone. Odds are she won't stay married forever. They need to plan for that.
Mostly, women were treated special. They raised their own kids with the neighborhood women, taught them their values, they didn't pawn off raising their kids on some 3rd world, ESL, immigrant or Lawanda. These minimum wagers are the ones who actually raised their kids. People were convinced via TV that they needed stuff, bigger stuff, better stuff, so women worked.
I liked how towns looked in the 50s. Clean, safe, friendly. Now they're seedy, 3rd world looking, stay aware of your surroundings, dumps. Wildwood didn't always look like it does now. That started in the 60s. Leesburg didn't look as it does now. Diversity is what destroyed these places.
Lets talk honestly about it.
This is a politically correct injustice to the REAL people who founded this nation. If she had taken them all to Canada, maybe I'd agree. This is PC garbage. Feel good crap to appease those who are growing in numbers and becoming restless. The irony is they're biting the hand that feeds them. White people make the world go round. White people make a country successful. White people make a city or town successful. Just look at all the stats, best this, best that...white people. Worst this, last that...black people. None of this around you would be here without white people. The "west" and all it brings is white people. Technology, white people.

No, actually, we had a 50,000 year head start.
You know, I'd buy that crap IF and a BIG IF...they were successful ANYWHERE. They're not successful here, or there, or anywhere, including africa where they had a lot longer than 400 years to advance while "we" were out exploring the world, figuring out where we wanted to live.
It's BS to stop the REformation...we had one before...of an underclass.
We should have left them in africa. Turned down that "great deal" they were offering at the coast and kept going...

Dear Guest: In all due respect I cannot tell if you are joking or not but I have heard the scenario you lay out spoken by others.
One of the problems here is that people address history based on the social, cultural educational, ideological etc for today but back then its what they did. Another problem is created because of the Rashmon Effect (ie different people view the same events but come away with different versions. Another factor is plain bias. and finally hind sight is 20/20.
In fact your writing supports this argument because you reference the 1950's and all you liked about it. I also share that view but change is inevitable and the most prominent aspect of survival of all species is "their ability to adapt". I do agree that not all change is good but change is the one constant whether we like it or not
Your description concerning native Americans is right in part but as previously stated adapting is key and its not reality to believe that anyone can stop progress. Explorers abound in every nation on earth since the beginning of time, its the human experience, its nature. Florida growth is one small example. How many Floridians, over the years, do you suppose grimiest every time another northern populated their state? But in the long run didn't it better serve Florida and the nation?
Native Americans resisted the inevitable but could have kept their culture and still become a part of a new and exciting nation. Indeed what I found wrong in this story is that the government placed them on reservations instead of providing land etc in the greater community. But its a decision they made and at the time it might have been the best available option?
When it comes to American History too many people today look at the negatives. For instant they see America's history of slavery but its a history of overcoming slavery. University students are taught that our founders, explorers etc were all angry evil white men. However we have English settlers with a history of human right laws beginning with the Magna Carta (circa 1215) the English Bill of Rights (circa 1689), etc that formed a basis of America's common laws, and lay the foundation for the drafting of the three Charters of Freedom.
So I do get a little miffed when someone slams America because while not perfect the rule of law prevails, freedoms abound and in the end justice prevails.
I do agree that progressives over reached on the black issue. But what you should not neglect to notice is that many blacks have come to understand that and as Jason Riley states to progressive please stop with the help your killing me. There are many people like Jason Riley who speak up for course correct on many issues thanks to our First Amendment rights.
In my view America is not perfect but then nature has never built anything that was perfect but this nation comes the closest to perfection that can be found on God's green earth and we must treasure it and find a way to get along with one another.
Personal Best Regards:

It was the beginning of big business. White privateers went to Africa and bought slaves from other blacks, returned to America and sold them at a profit. Before I get screamed at by a liberal, I am being just a bit facetious.
But, actually the first slave owner was a black man from Virginia. Oh, and by the way, he also owned white slaves and black slaves.

Everyone seems to forget that slavery was introduced and thrived in the Southern Colonies by virtue of the endorsement and encouragement of the British Monarchy .
The vast number of years during which sadly slavery became rooted as an institution in what is today the US was under the control of the Monarchy .
It took until after the War of 1812 for our very young and untested system of centralized self-government began to establish itself . Finally 5 decades later the ugly
practice of the enslavement of human beings became regarded as so repulsive that citizens went to war against it .

When did slavery begin? Long before the bible much less the New World. Any fool knows that without Wikipedia.

Bull...a very few were repulsed by it.
People didn't want slavery because slave owners undercut prices because of their cheap labor. "Free States" came about because white people didn't want to have to compete with slave labor.
Slavery didn't end, and wouldn't have ended, without mechanization, machinery, engines, doing the work of hundreds.
Without the overhead of having people to take care of.
The "history" is wrong, the "why" is wrong. It's written to make us feel good about our nation. So we support it, like a sports team. Slavery ended because it was cheaper to end it.

When robots can take the place of cheap labor in the Asia-Pacific Region and India, nothing changes. And who will reap the rewards? A handful of people 30 years from now who inherit their fortune. Manufacturing won't come back. Unless/until the cost of labor here comes down enough to make it profitable. Robots started here, they'll stay here, and spread just like our jobs were spread out as labor costs rise.
We priced ourselves out of the world economy.
Multinationals and their owners don't care about borders or countries. In fact, the NWO pretty much eliminates countries. The multinationals want the rules the same throughout the world. Rules that benefit themselves. So they have lots and lots of customers with money to borrow!

One major reason that it took time to get enough political pressure to end slavery once the Federal Gvt came into being and developed some " footing " was due to the fact that the US was basically a Nation made up of small family farms .
Most people had at best an 8th grade education . Newspapers did not have wide circulation . The far majority of people in the North had never seen a Black person let alone a slave .
They learned of this deplorable human condition from their local Preacher on Sunday Mornings . Most of the Northern farm boys who went off to fight the South thought that they were going on some grand adventure that would last only a few weeks and would enhance his standing in his home community and church .

Sorry...forgot to respond. The NWO is the multinational corporations wanting a worldwide "level playing field". One currency, one set of rules, via a UN or other world regulating body. One world overarching government. One world banking system.

I wonder if we could find any racists in the Chicago ghetto. I'm guessing that one might easily find one in the White House. After all, Obumbie has done a great job of bringing out the Black in everyone.
We should all pretend, like good liberals that everyone is the same and equal. Of course, liberals want to move into TV because of how safe and quiet it is. But, they are not racists, at least they don't say anything non-PC, right?
You liberals are almost as funny in your hypocritical speak as watching a gay pride parade. And both have the same goal, to be taken seriously and forced acceptance.

Sadly, it's more than pretend... They make laws that GUARANTEE they're "equal" at the cost of everything/everyone else. It's such a joke the whole equality argument. Where, beside sports and music? None of the "higher functions" like the STEM fields.
I wonder who they're trying to fool, us or themselves?

Why should the quality be any worse in the inner city schools? Don't they get funding like every other school?
We ALL know why the quality of an inner city school is lower. The students who attend it. Take that SAME school, but fill it with the same percentage of white kids, same building, same teachers, same books, everything the same, just the students are now 99.9% white. The school will do just fine.
So, tell me again about equality.

And why is that? Why is the best stuff in the suburbs? Because that's where the white kids live, the white people who are successful with money live separately. Are you catching on yet? It's not so advanced a concept, it's not a waste of time, with my help you WILL get it, I know you will.

Have you ever studied a college level " American History " text ? Those Northern farm boys I described in my original post in no way felt threatened by the " free labor " which was being supplied by enslaved people .
They were motivated by the beliefs of their deeply religious communities . These beliefs were preached to them by educated and more socially aware Pastors .
They were also sparked by the novel titled " Uncle Tom`s Cabin " which was written by Harriott Beecher Stowe .
As these young men joined with other local young men to form a Regiment from their State and area they believed that they were undertaking a grand adventure which was sanctioned by God . Further they believed that their " task " would be accomplished quickly and with few casualties .

I point out that there are quite a number of racist and bigoted posts in this thread and am automatically labeled a 'liberal.'
By that measure, could one assume that the inverse is therefore true and that only conservatives are racist and bigoted?
Enough hatred for one day, so will bow out of this thread. :ho:

The history books are wrong, I know it for a fact. I've been where history was written, lived it, watched others who didn't. The books are wrong and no amount of anyone's whining, saying I'm "out there" or it's a conspiracy theory can change the facts that I know. The books are plain wrong. History IS written by the winners and it's written THEIR way. The last place you'll find the real history is in "sanctioned" textbooks.
Uncle Toms Cabin is a propaganda book. It's a work of fiction.

Just curious could you try to connect the dots for me on why a number of farm-boys from Maine would have been inspired to leave home to fight in the Civil War ?

The same reason others have fought in other wars...propaganda, lies, to avoid prison, misguided loyalty? Many were Irish right off the boat, taken away to fight.
I'm telling you, I know for a fact several "events" in history are not reported correctly in history books. That's all I can say. It's like the truth is all classified and only the official story gets reported. Your government lies to you. ALL governments lie to their people.

So did the USA really land men on the Moon ?
Couldn't tell you for sure.
Just remember, they kept the Manhattan Project and all the nuke stuff a secret, how many knew?
"The Manhattan Project began modestly in 1939, but grew to employ more than 130,000 people and cost nearly US$2 billion (about $26 billion in 2016 dollars). Over 90% of the cost was for building factories and producing the fissile materials, with less than 10% for development and production of the weapons."
They also kept what I know a secret too... They're very good at compartmentalizing, letting each person know just a small part, just what they need to operate.
Lets just say, I don't believe anything any more. It's sad what they did to me. Made me a cynic.

How can "liberal" be construed as a "dirty word" when Democrats now embrace Socialism? America has fought wars against Socialism and now Democrats associate themselves with its label and ideology.

The country is being run by a bunch of draft dodgers and billionaires. With an all volunteer army the billionaires can buy their way out of service, no skin in the game, send the poor kids. They're all poor kids because the middle class is drying up. That's the new American way. We let it happen and buy into the propaganda that 40% of Americans are lazy. It's their own damn fault.

As is EVERYONE with a lick of sense. Farmers don't take the worst animals and breed them, they breed the best. We humans are NOT breeding the best. The greatest increase in population is with the minority poor... WHY are they poor? As breeding stock, if you're looking to improve the human race, they're also poor.
We killed ourselves in an effort to be "fair and just".

I guess you are ignorant about American History, you should take the time to study about her before you say no one has ever heard of her. Or is it because she is a woman, or a black woman?

Out of ALL the possible people to be chosen to adorn the face of arguably THE most popular bill...they pick her? Really? Other than purely political reasons? Out of the thousands and thousands (millions if you go all the way down to her insignificance) they could have chosen...they picked her. We're done...put a fork in it. Insignificant people back them, insignificant people today. 150 years and they haven't gotten anywhere.
It's a joke really. A sick joke on the people who built this country. What role did blacks play in the founding? None. The building? Only in swinging a hammer where someone else told them to swing. Blacks do for other blacks, never...HARDLY ever...for the common good of everyone. They hardly volunteer. They take, they don't give.
Blacks deal heavily in black market and drugs, $20 is the most popular denomination, blacks will be reminded every day how "whitey" is changing, trying? So they'll calm down? Is that the agenda? The motivation?
What'll happen is white people will look at it in disgust. Black people will rally around saying we got this much, we want the rest! They'll demand everything else become "black".
All because we didn't want to pick our own cotton. Karma is kicking our butt...

Who cares? I use plastic almost all the time. My wife has the check book and I don't even know what color our checks are. If I will ever have a need for cash, it will be used quickly anyway. Shoot, some folks don't even use plastic, they use their Iphones for purchases.
I have to agree that putting her photo on currency is nothing more than a political swipe at the majority, but who cares? She is the ugliest example you could possibly think of to adorn American currency, but who cares? If the Federal gov wishes to make fools of themselves and confirm our beliefs that they are stupid, who cares?

Why put any on? What did they do for the founding? A LOT of people did "grunt work" to build the nation. a very FEW did the actual founding and this wasn't one of them.
We care because it shows us how far we are falling as a nation. How insane we've become to think she is equal, better actually, she REPLACED him, to president Jackson. It's like comparing Einstein to Forrest Gump. Replacing Einstein with Gump.
It's a travesty. Not because she's a she or because she's black. It's because she really didn't DO anything.

As long as the $20 buys the same amount, I do not care whose is on it
Very well said

This thread is a micro view of why we no longer can resolve the issues that really matter in this nation. At this point the only focus should be on how we all go forward. But that won't happen because the political class is making use of us as their useful idiots stoking class, race economic division in return for your vote and your vote means "two things to them "power" and "control"
Voters should be demanding solutions to our economic woes, our foreign policy and the defense of this nation. Everything else should be side lined until our leaders have solved those issues.
As a side bar we will continue this slide to perdition until we curtail our slide toward a secular state ( my meaning that government replaces rule of law)
Setting aside the religious implications the Ten Commandments are an excellent guide back to civility and reason. In that then government is a false god

OMG, that was funny as hell...

I know! I mean, they could have been born females in male skin, right? Or maybe they are really white female that insist that they are black or maybe a white female that swears she is half native American. Hillary is a great example of a male born in female white skin. Why don't we call Hillary "black" and then put her on the currency? Then everyone would be happy. Nope, sorry but she is too ugly also.
What was wrong with the idea of putting Booker T Washington on the bill? At least most folks know who he was and what he was famous for. And that is without the great benefit of being taught Black History when I grew up. We didn't have Black History month, Ebony magazine, Black Miss America, Jet Magazine or Black academy awards when I was young, so I guess I missed out. I was wrongly taught that we were all the same. But we did attach Soul Music to the black culture, if that means anything.

Being gay is not the norm, nor is it a choice.
At what age did you decide you were attracted to the opposite sex and not the same sex?
The same answer applies to almost all gays, they didn't make the choice.

Yes, they ARE being taught "gay" is normal. It was for political reasons, taken out of the DSM, "the book of disorders".
You know what other thing is disturbing? Blacks "shaming" white girls into having sex with them. Yup, if they don't, they start yelling and heckling them saying they're racist. Ask any high school girl. Ask your grand daughters. They "beat" them into submission by "humiliating" them. It's the quiet, shy, self conscience, withdrawn ones who fall victim the easiest.
All this "diversity" is destroying us socially and morally.
Being gay is not the norm, nor is it a choice.

"Being gay" is not a choice. It's an unfortunate birth defect. So is being born a psychopath, but we don't condone that.
Engaging in gay behavior is a choice. Young boys are being taught that gay is good. There is nothing wrong about two men "being together" sexually. Being full of hormones and horny as hell, they are engaging in homosexual activities. They're more bi-sexual than gay. They'd rather have a girl, but drunk with the boys... The number of bi-sexual men/boys is rising. https://www.google.com/search?q=numbers+of+bisexual+men+rising%3F&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8
There you have it...part of the negatives of a liberal society.
Next it will be incest. Why not? Why leave home without it? Who's gonna treat you better than family...right? Science knows that it takes generations of incest before most of the really bad genetic inbreeding stuff starts to come out. (End sarcasm for those who didn't know)

So, you are saying that gays are mentally retarded? Are you saying that gays do not understand normal from abnormal? If they are adult and gay, do they not have a choice? Are they unable to make a choice based on normal and abnormal? Just wondering, since I am not an EXPERT. Perhaps, since you indicate that attraction to a gender is not automatic when born, that maybe it is a LEARNED attraction? I wonder when bestiality will become the fad norm. It's been allowed in Denmark for a long time. Isn't that the country that liberals proudly use as an example of a successful socialist system? Do you think that those practicing bestiality were born with that attraction or do you think it was a LEARNED attraction? Just wondering. I'm not an expert on human nature. Should we give those type of choices a special benefit and special rights also? When do you suppose that pedophiles will come forward with their demand for special consideration? Oh, so many questions and nobody has the answers.

More like when one cannot find or attract the normal opposite sex they turn to the next opportunity; or onto the next; and the next; etc.....anything that works!
Just don't try to convince the moral majority what those that do this are normal; as they are not.
The intention of opposites attract was/still is to pro create. Last I was aware there was only one normal that makes that happen!

You really should work on your woefully inadequate ability to comprehend written words.
I never said anything about 'mental retardation,' because if I had an argument could be put forth using your own words as proof of it.
I asked you "at what age did you decide you were attracted to the opposite sex and not the same sex" and you have purposely refused to answer a simple question.
The reason of course, to anyone with a bit of intelligence, is that you didn't make that choice...it was made for you.
While someone may feel 'icky' about same sex attraction of two consenting adults, that doesn't automatically mean it should be illegal. Heck, I personally think tattoos and drunken seniors are icky, but I'm not running around trying to get them outlawed if they really don't affect me (drunk driving being an obvious exception).
In other words, you don't have the right to force your feeling of repulsion on others, if it is between two consenting adults and doesn't affect you.
Why in the world would you think your right to not being uncomfortable, trumps other people's right to do things that really doesn't affect you and is between consenting adults?

Heck, I personally think tattoos and drunken seniors are icky, but I'm not running around trying to get them outlawed if they really don't affect me (drunk driving being an obvious exception).
In other words, you don't have the right to force your feeling of repulsion on others, if it is between two consenting adults and doesn't affect you.
Why in the world would you think your right to not being uncomfortable, trumps other people's right to do things that really doesn't affect you and is between consenting adults?
Where did all that come from? Did you come up with that from the post that you replied to? How long did it take for you to write that? Sounds like a lot of thought went into it, even if it doesn't make any sense.

1. Go back and read the post I quoted.
2. See #1.
3. Probably about 30 seconds.

You really should work on your woefully inadequate ability to comprehend written words.
I never said anything about 'mental retardation,' because if I had, an argument could be put forth using your own words as proof of it.
Thank you for proving my point.

I to passed that little white house every day. I take great pride in coming from the city she chose as her home. I am also proud that they are placing her on a bill. It should not matter about the color of her skin or her gender. Honor her for the great work she did. This is not to say Jackson was not good, but maybe as the world changes we should open our eyes and change also.

Some people only see and hear what they want to. You and many others are blinded by the color of a person skin and refuse to see the person inside and the great works they did.
1. Harriet Tubman was known as the Moses of her people. ‘Go Down Moses' is a song she used to communicate her coming and going.
2. After the outbreak of the Civil War, Harriet Tubman became a soldier, spy and a nurse.
3.Harriet was successful as a nurse due to her ability to cure men of dysentery by means of native herbs.
4.She was the first woman to lead an armed expedition in the war. She guided the Combahee River Raid, consisting of 300 free African soldiers on 3 gun boats to liberate more than 700 enslaved Africans in South Carolina.
5.In her later years, Tubman worked to promote the cause of women's suffrage. Tubman travelled to New York, Boston, and Washington, D.C. to speak out in favour of women's voting rights. When the National Federation of Afro-American Women was founded in 1896, Tubman was the keynote speaker at its first meeting.
6. Harriet Tubman spent her last years in a home called the ‘Harriet Tubman Home for Aged and Indigent Negro' which she established in Auburn New York.
7. After her death, Harriet Tubman was buried in Fort Hill Cemetery in Auburn with military honors.
Harriet Tubman devoted her life towards the abolition of slavery. She is an inspiration to many for her relentless struggle for equality and civil rights. She is one of the most notable figures in the history.
I am again proud to say I am from the city she called home.
And I am very pleased I do not share the hateful and bigoted ideas of some the postings about this matter.

I'm sure you realize, this is the part that really ticks off the racists, bigots and misogynists.
She is one of the most notable figures in the history.
Yeah, but all she did was help human beings escape being owned by other human beings. Besides, she was ugly too. (sarcasm of course)
The posters who have denigrated her looks are most likely the type of males who think women must always look pretty, while believing their own pot-bellied, pasty-faced and mostly bald heads are some kind of gift to humanity.

I asked you "at what age did you decide you were attracted to the opposite sex and not the same sex" and you have purposely refused to answer a simple question.
The reason of course, to anyone with a bit of intelligence, is that you didn't make that choice...it was made for you.
Yes, that sexual choice was automatic for me at an early age (I am a heterosexual). What if I was sexually attracted to my sister, would that attraction make it acceptable to the majority of people? What if I was attracted to killing the neighbor's pets, does that make it acceptable to the majority of people?
While someone may feel 'icky' about same sex attraction of two consenting adults, that doesn't automatically mean it should be illegal. Heck, I personally think tattoos and drunken seniors are icky, but I'm not running around trying to get them outlawed if they really don't affect me (drunk driving being an obvious exception).
If there were a large majority of people that felt it was "icky" (maybe 96.6% of the population), you should understand that it is considered "icky", and keep that stuff to yourself, unless your goal is to have a lot of people tell you how "icky" it is...
In other words, you don't have the right to force your feeling of repulsion on others, if it is between two consenting adults and doesn't affect you.
I believe; I do have the right to express my feelings of repulsion, if I get enough support from others (maybe 96.6% of the population) we can force our feeling of repulsion on those that are repulsing us.
Why in the world would you think your right to not being uncomfortable, trumps other people's right to do things that really doesn't affect you and is between consenting adults?
Why in the world would less than 4% of the population, think they have a right to make the majority of the population (96.6%) feel uncomfortable with that "icky" ****?

That same ridiculous argument was used to oppose interracial marriages.
Or do you think that should also be against the law?

I guess you don't understand, or care, about the dangers of 'majority rule?'
Just because a majority think they can trample and squelch the rights of individuals, doesn't mean it is so.
That is why our government is set up the way it is. The FF's knew about the dangers of majority rule.
And you've still avoided the question of "if it's between two consenting adults, how does that affect you?"

You REALLY think interracial marriages are a GOOD thing? How about inter-species? Into that too?
The FFs knew the danger of rule by ANYONE other than "their guys". That's why the election system is as corrupt as it is. The "Electoral College" is there because they didn't trust the ignorant rabble. They were protecting their rule by making sure votes by people like you didn't matter.
Two consenting adults can do whatever they wish...in the privacy of their own home. When they take their disgusting behavior out into public, that's when I have a problem with it. When they demand institutions be changed to fit their perversion...I have a problem with it.
Same with minorities. It's the changes they make to everything that I don't like. They destroy everything they touch. When they reach a certain percentage, quality of life PLUMMETS. That is what I have a problem with.
It's NOT skin color, it's everything else about them.

Was it? Maybe it was because it (the opinion of the majority) is an important consideration with regard to any action.

Got anything to illustrate how the FF's felt being queer was acceptable?

I believe I explained how it affects me, I think it is "icky". Nothing more "icky" than some ugly bull dike kissing on some other ugly bull dike, well other than some limp wristed pecker puffer kissing on some other limp wristed pecker puffer of course. Thank goodness they only represent 3.4% of the population.
You avoided answering the question about incest and killing pets...

Sliding into oblivion describes our nation...heck the world these days.
Got anything factual to add?
Then better to listen and learn something.
Show me ANYTHING or ANYWHERE that has improved with the addition of a lot of minorities. Besides sports and entertainment. Show me a town, a city, a country that improved for everyone with the addition, majority of minorities. Show me a school, a business, anything, that improved in ranking, standing, etc., with the addition or a majority of minorities.
You keep telling "us" we're wrong, our thinking is antiquated, unfair, destructive. PROVE it with ONE thing/place that improved after a large influx of minorities or a majority of minorities. You keep saying we're "racist" and unfair. OK, here's your chance to prove us wrong. I'm ready for your list of "black paradises", exceptional "black countries". Even a black business that is a world leader. Find me ONE thing they can do better.
You can't find one thing they're as good or better at and you expect me to consider them equal? The drugs really were good in the 60s, huh?

Something to be said for living in an ignorant bliss...
Besides, you lose it at the end, when it's not as fun. I'll give up my 90s to help save my country from the "minority" takeover. If I fail, it's less time spent in a 3rd world cesspool.
Someone has to try to get you to wake up and smell the coffee. Only that isn't coffee you smell. It's the slow destruction of "The West", of America. That's the smell of the 3rd world creeping in. The slow insidious decay, rot, diversification.
I don't know why "they're" actively destroying "The West" and the white race. But that IS what is happening. Systematically.

One of the selling points was the general conservative political theme, the negligible crime, and the multitude of activities. That, coupled with being able to get anywhere in the Villages in a golf cart, convinced me that this is indeed a senior's Disney World.
And it did not bother me that both my next door neighbors were liberals. Everyone else in the community is conservative, less one or two homes out of 100 units.
You can have diversity, and you can move into a "diverse" neighborhood where ever you wish. I am fine here, and the lack of diversity does not tweak my guilt whatsoever.
And for that libtard that consistently calls us Tea Party, thanks for the compliment, even though I have never been to a TP meeting. Still, I do stand for their American values. How many when considering moving to TV even gave it two seconds of thought?

"The best predictor of party preference wasn’t any of the socio-demographic characteristics—it was the personality trait “openness,” which in the big five model means curious, original, intellectual, creative, and open to new ideas. Openness was tightly linked with voting for the liberal party. The second-best predictor was the personality trait “conscientiousness”—organized, systematic, punctual, achievement-oriented, and dependable. Those high in conscientiousness were likely to vote for the conservative party."
Now I ask you, would Jesus be a liberal or a conservative?

Nope, no barf Villages Tea Party/KKK member or supporter would ever be in my circle of friends.
How open minded of you! You hypocrite! You judge MORE than I do, and for LESS of a reason.
I know many liberals. I know many conservatives.
are there really lots of folks like you in The Villages? I cannot believe that I'm the only one who here finds this type of talk distasteful, and plain wrong. I'm guessing that if you had to attach your real name to this kind of hate speech, you wouldn't have the guts to post this lunacy.
It may be distasteful, but it's certainly NOT wrong. How about some facts from you? Got any?
I moved here exactly because it is NOT Diverse . And I like it that way .
However in my retirement I want to quietly live among people who are like me .
FIRE AWAY LIBS --- FIRE AWAY ALL YE Judgmental SOULS ! All Ye Holier
Than Thou !
I had the nerve to say it !!
I moved here for the same reason. White as ivory soap...
The whole diversity and lack of diversity is all so much BS!
How many when considering moving to TV even gave it two seconds of thought?
I venture none.
Second only to the number of people who asked how many of each party live here.
Virtually none.
Diversity is nothing more than mental masturbation for nose in the air wanna be intellectuals and politicians.
You venture wrong, I'd bet at least 90% thought it a big plus.
And it did not bother me that both my next door neighbors were liberals.
That is so nice of you. Did your property value go down?
Depends on their color. You KNOW it's true so don't bother saying anything. Minorities moving into an area ALWAYS bring the prices down. We can argue about why, but not that it occurs.
Keep those prices UP!

Plenty . One major discussion concerned the then US Policy on China .
The major publisher who controlled Time and Life Magazines as well as several major daily papers Henry Luce was ordering that reports from his journalists in the field as to what was actually happening in China with the Communists and the Free China forces be rewritten to reflect his personal view .
One of the major reporters was Theodore White who got so disgusted that he posted a sign on his office in Taiwan that said " Any resemblance between what is actually written in this office and published under my name in Time is purely
coincidental . [ this speaks to the long practiced tradition of those who control the editorial offices more often than not seek to mold public opinion to their liking ] .
After WWII ended we allowed our military to become poorly equipped and poorly trained and under staffed and they were completely unprepared for the outbreak of the Korean invasion by the North Koreans and the Chinese Communist Armies .
How`s that for my book report .

And it did not bother me that both my next door neighbors were liberals.
That is so nice of you. Did your property value go down?
Actually, they were here before me. And no, I don't believe that property values went down. I bought when the prices were down. I thank the libtards of congress such as Frank/Dodd every day for causing the mortgage bubble to burst. I did rather well.
As for my neighbors? They are no longer here. But, I have no animosity toward liberals. They can't help it if they have been protected all their lives and are ignorant of such ideas as Freedom, Liberty and Morals. You can't hate folks that are ignorant. You just have to work with them and try to teach them the error of their ways. You have to teach them that socialism is not being progressive, but regressive and doomed to failure. No economy can sustain socialism long term. America tried socialism in it's beginning via the Mayflower Compact and failed. They learned where other countries did not. Because our youth are ignorant and badly educated, Bernie is able to easily mislead them with his great socialism. He is the pied piper of socialism, but at least he is one liberal that admits that he is a socialist. Hillary tried and gave up trying to out-socialize him when she learned that it wasn't working for her. She has to keep her leftist lean toward socialism camouflaged as liberalism.
I'll take Capitalism over gov controlled socialism. I may not like The Donald, but he understands capitalism so he will get my vote. Once we get the economy right, the other stuff will work out. I'm not PC, so bathroom etiquette, gay marriage and black lives matter is just so much diversion that can be straightened out later. Why the gov needs to get involved anyway is a puzzle. First things first. The economy, national security, enforcing illegal invasion laws. Those are more important than gay feelings and minority attempts at bullying law enforcement.
So, no liberals in the neighborhood did not harm property value. Every neighborhood should have a liberal or two to give them perspective. Everyone should "know thy enemy."

When an atheist liberal asks questions like this, it's only to divert and trap the conversation. It's meaningless if the libtard is a non-believer and the answer will be meaningless. Just like gays attempting to find flaws in the Bible in order to justify their behavior. If you are a non-believer, what difference does it make?

"Would Jesus be a liberal or a conservative?" can be answered by anyone. How people answer will depend on their own beliefs. You don't have to be a Christian to answer and there are no wrong answers. You do need to think. So why not answer the question instead of trying to analyse the person who asked?
Many people post. And if anyone drifts left of center for some people they are the enemy and lumped together as if only one person is posting. Those of you who have read a bit and seen a bit know that creating a bogeyman keeps certain groups together and keeps them angry. That is comfortable for them.
The intent of my question was to learn about others but the only thing I learned is that people are more afraid of looking foolish or being wrong then going outside their comfort zone.

How response be made when comparing the influence of the permissive, promiscuous values of today VS the restritictive influences and values of people who lived back then.

Very interesting . Just happens that my " Myers Briggs " results over the decades always comes up aligned with the attributes you describe above however my politics since age 18 have always aligned with the Republicans .
Also I was raised in a Blue Collar Catholic family . My Dad was a Union Official in his local and my Mom held local office as a Dem .
They had 4 children . All went to college and paid for 100% of it themselves . All 4 went on to a Graduate Degree . One is a Teacher , one became a Chief Executive Officer of a publicly traded company , one became a senior executive of a publicly traded financial institution , one became an engineer and a senior manager in a technology company .
Yet unbeknown to one another until recently , all 4 of us at age 18 became and remain registered Republicans . This simple example of one family blows apart your high tone theory that the " thinking and highly educated citizens " among us will gravitate to the D-Party .

That your siblings all came to the same conclusion is in alignment with the study in American Political Science Review in 2005. Wouldn't you agree?

Other things beside political affiliation is determined by genes, only it's forbidden to talk about it. They'll destroy our way of life, and we're not allowed to talk about it. They're the majority now...over 50% of school enrollees are...or were..."minorities".

You can believe what you choose to believe, but you can't change facts and history. Jesus was a historical figure, whether you believe him to be God or not. I doubt that Paul wrote the Koran. And I doubt Paul installed Jesus in Jewish historical documentation. It would be an elaborate scheme to motivate the whole middle East into believing in Jesus. Have you ever visited the caves of Cappadocia? Caves full of ancient paintings on the ceilings and walls of JESUS. SO, you go ahead and foolishly believe in a big conspiracy. After all, liberals believe in the big Republican conspiracy against Hillary. Everyone LIBERAL knows that she did no wrong.
To answer the trolls question as to whether Jesus was liberal or conservative, exactly when did these two political ideologies originate? I'll let you answer your own question, as I know what I believe.
Jesus claimed to be deity. He professed to be God. God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.
But, your question is just bait and diversion. But, it does prove the title of the thread.

Forced use of right hand
Western countries[which?] also attempt to convert left-handed children due to cultural, social and religious biases. Schools[where?] tend to urge children to use their right hands, sometimes against the wishes of the child's parents. In America it was[when?] not uncommon for students to be physically punished for writing with their left hands:[28] "I was educated in the USA in Catholic school in the 60s. My left hand was beaten until it was swollen, so I would use my right right [sic] hand" ... "I had a teacher who would smack my left hand with a yardstick every time she caught me writing with my left hand" ... "My fourth grade teacher [...] would force me to use my right hand to perform all of my school work. If she caught me using my left hand, I was hit in the head with a dictionary. It turned out that she believed left handers were connected with Satan."[40]
That wasn't that long ago. I'll bet we all have stories about left handed people. Now it seems ridiculous to think adults once felt that handedness was a sign of inferiority.

Although determining which presidents were left handed before the 20th century is a difficult, if not impossible, task.

Jesus is the most famous person in the world — according to the Internet.
A study by researchers in the U.S. ranked famous individuals using a specially developed algorithm that would see how famous they remained 200 years after their death.
Jesus topped the list, followed by Napoleon, then Mohammed, The Independent newspaper reported.
The first American on the list is Abraham Lincoln, who came in fifth. He was closely followed by George Washington, who was sixth, one place ahead of Adolf Hitler.
The study was carried out by Steven Skiena and Charles Ward, who ranked individuals by looking at data sources, just as Google looks at Web sources.
Barack Obama came 111th, 10 places ahead of Madonna. Bob Dylan was 130th.
Pop star Justin Bieber finished in 8,633rd.
"The significance of Jesus is shown by his mindshare today fully 2,000 years after his death. We don't see the same happening for Justin Bieber," Skiena told The Independent.

You saying so does not make your blather the truth. Jesus is referenced by the Muslim as a profit. Jews have documentation of Jesus of Nazareth. If you think that Jesus is a fabric of someone's imagination, then you are really brainwashed by loonies. There is all kinds of evidence that a person named Jesus (as from the Bible) existed. Whether or not you believe he is God, is up to you, but saying he didn't exist does not make it so. I realize it is convenient to hope he didn't exist, in order to justify your live, lifestyle or whatever, but the facts support his existence.
And by the way, I would rather believe and be wrong, then to deny his deity and be wrong. I have nothing to lose, whereas you have your afterlife at stake.
Are you smarter than the majority of fellow Americans? Because the majority of Americans believe.

Mohammad created, yes, created, Islam in 610, more than 500 years after "Jesus" Christianity had grown by then. I'm not saying Christianity didn't become popular. I'm saying it's based on Paul. Paul "created" through a false history, the "ultimate prophet", THE savior everyone was looking for. Prophets were a dime a dozen back then. A third? More? of the NT is almost directly from Paul.
Jesus didn't write anything...why the hell not!...His disciples didn't directly write anything, nobody did while he was alive. Nobody witnessed and wrote about ANYTHING Jesus supposedly did while alive. EVERYTHING is written at least 30 years after his death. Most almost 100. Look it up, the John, Matthew, in the NT did not know Jesus personally. Why not have the REAL disciples books in the Bible?
Why didn't "God" write anything down for us? A MAN, Muhammad lies about it (is it truly from God?) and Islam spreads like wildfire. Why didn't the "real God" do at least the same?
You should question your belief if you're going to base your life on it.
Where is the Jewish documentation about Jesus? Josephus? A few passing references that COULD have talked about Jesus, all written as memoirs many years later.
The Jews are STILL waiting for the savior, they obviously didn't believe Jesus was the one.
If you have other proof, contemporary proof, NOT from the church, lets see it. There is none. No Roman record of Jesus, no trial, no crucifixion, no burial, no RISING from the burial. Nada, zilch. It's like he never existed until Paul starts writing about him. Paul made him up like Muhammad made up Islam.
No, the FACTS don't support his existence, only the "Christianity Industry" says he existed.
You're living your life based on several thousand year old myths, perpetuated by those who would seek a 10% tithing. You've been hoodwinked!

Why do we need to take a Jackson off the Bill when it is already such a popular Black name ?
Also why not put the first Black President on the Bill you know Willie Clinton . His middle name is Jefferson and that`s a popular Black name too !
Could someone please explain this situation --- like maybe that high IQ lady ? Thanks

Good luck. You're betting your IQ is more superior than faith and belief.
Job 11:12
"An idiot will become intelligent When the foal of a wild donkey is born a man."
Proverbs 16:25
"There is a way which seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death."
Ecclesiastes 10:2-3
"A wise man's heart directs him toward the right, but the foolish man's heart directs him toward the left. Even when the fool walks along the road, his sense is lacking and he demonstrates to everyone that he is a fool."
Like I said before, the majority believes so there must be something to faith other than mass hysteria. But, it's your choice. Perhaps you are too SMART to believe in a superior entity? I wonder how you feel when you discover those that have a higher IQ than you, that also have FAITH. It must be very confusing for you.

Numbers of academic or personal being in no way assure one's intelligence or smartness. The one's who profess such are to be viewed like a red flag waving!!!!
A guarantee there is something amiss in one's life when they feel compelled to shore themselves up in some manner.

Hey, I respect you for being a good person. Being a good person doesn't get you to heaven when you croak. But, it your ego is greater than the majority of the World, that's your problem. Does my belief make me a weaker person?
Why stock up on ammo? What are you afraid of? By the way, I went shooting yesterday and hardly put a dent in my ammo supply. But, I really do need to start rotating my old ammo for new.

Only swearing allegiance to a myth does?
Yes, actually it does. You've passed off responsibility for your life and actions. You "passed the buck". What now happens to you is "divine intervention". It's "God's doing" not yours.
Do you really WANT to live in a world where there are gangs of hunters going out to rob for survival? Where you have to be vigilant and protect your property at all times? No thanks...

Good luck friend, because you NEED luck. I'll take my divine intervention over luck any day. If that makes me weak, so be it. It got me through Vietnam, Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom, as well as 13 years law enforcement, and construction work at heights of over 780ft. Not bragging, just giving someone else the credit for it.
Friend, I have rifles and pistols in my home, but not because I am worried about Doomsday. If I was concerned with survival, I would have stayed in the woods in the Carolinas. If I ever need a gun, I'll take it from the bad guy. Even at my age.
Why don't you worry about our government, the economy, ethics and morals instead of being paranoid and sitting around cleaning your guns? A gun isn't going to do you any good when there is no food produced to take. And that is the only reason for a gun, to survive by getting your food. When everyone quits working and the farming is outsourced to South America, doomsday won't matter. All you will need is one bullet, for yourself. But, you better get right with GOD before you use that one last bullet.

That is odd, I was under the impression taking your own life is a sin...one that is different from all the other sins YOU have committed in life, as it is the only sin you can't ask forgiveness for.
But you would know better than me, cause I just do the good things in life for myself.
STOCK UP ON AMMO! Because when the people with a sense of entitlement get hungry, they are going to take from those that have it (and they don't care if you believe in God or not!).

From one conservative to another, I'll worry about you more than I will worry about liberals. They are no physical threat. My bullets will be for the non-believers with guns that feel that they can take from the rest of us. But, that is not a political thing, even if you try to make every thread a survivalist thing. So, stock up on ammo because when you come my way, you will need it. When you are a good shot, you don't need to stock up on ammo.

My bullets will be for the non-believers with guns that feel that they can take from the rest of us. I don't care if they have a gun, knife, or baseball bat! My bullets will be for believers, and non believers, that try to take from ME!
So, stock up on ammo because when you come my way, you will need it.
Me personally? Or, the non believers figuratively?
When you are a good shot, you don't need to stock up on ammo.
I go prairie dog shooting every year. (by the way before somebody gets confused on what I am shooting - these are rodents 3" wide x 9" tall, they are not canine dogs) I shoot 300-500 rounds a day and kill 250-400 pdogs a day. I took 2 pdogs off the mound at 550 yards with my AR10 /243 on a day with 25MPH gusts. I have killed pdogs at 700 yards with my savage 243. I am good at close range too; I scored 290 on my CC accuracy test with a 3.2" barreled 40 cal pistol. I am a good shot! But, there are going to be a lot of people that have never worked a day in their lives, and have developed a sense of entitlement, they will be looking to take from those that have what they want. If you have a lot of people you need to fend off, you will need A LOT OF AMMO!

I'm excited for you. What kind of weapon were the Pdogs using against you? They were shooting back, right? It's a bit different when they are shooting back. Wonder how good your accuracy would be then. Even though I have no problems with hunters, your comment proves that you have issues. But, go ahead and live your fantasy life. Hard to believe that one as paranoid as you would live in the Villages. But, then again this place draws all kinds of folks. Glad you don't frequent food preparation establishments. You're gonna fend off a gang of 20-40 yourself? That's what you'll be up against. In Fl, in TV, you don't have 500yd 360, sight lines. You have to work, you have to sleep, they'll find you and they'll take from you, dead or alive. If you're the real man you say you are, you can join up and become one of the leaders.
Otherwise you will lose your Alamo.

I'm excited for you. What kind of weapon were the Pdogs using against you? They were shooting back, right? It's a bit different when they are shooting back. Wonder how good your accuracy would be then. Duh that is a stretch, the pdogs don't have weapons. They do cause the cattle problems with the burrowing. The pdogs are know to carry the plague as well. They are rodents...moving target practice. I suppose you feel it would be better to poison them instead of shooting them? But then the Native American guides would have less income...and the ranchers would have more expense to pass on to the consumers.

You understand pdogs are not hunted they are shot, right? I am a hunter (not just a shooter) and suspect you do have problems with the concept of hunting. I bet your a paper target guy, if you even own a gun.
I am not paranoid, I am prepared. If you want to be unprepared, feel free to do so.

Going back to the subject of the thread, about sliding. This country's economy is doing pretty poorly. According to statistics, this administration is the ONLY administration that has not had a GDP growth rate of 3% or higher.

I agree with much of what you say. Obviously closer range shots would be easier than long distance shots...if a guy is great at 500 yards, shooting at 50 yards is no challenge. Yes, numbers will be an issue, so: STOCK UP ON AMMO!

Even that was "paid for" by "borrowing" over a $ trillion a year. The government is rapidly becoming the economy. All of it carefully managed. Not managed well, but managed. Supported by borrowing. The interest alone is $500 billion a year.

Son, if Pdogs are not hunted, I suppose that you can purchase some at your local firing range to shoot at, right?
Paper target guy? Hmmm, perhaps. I brush up on paper targets. Shot some holes this week, as a matter of fact. And I did have a period of time where I was an instructor in the police Dept. if that is equivalent to paper targets. Have I been hunting? Yes, and I ate what I shot. I have no problems with hunting or hunters. Have I been shot at and shot back? Yes, I have and I have shot and killed humans, if that qualifies me in your realm of acceptance. Until I moved down here, I also spent a couple of years with my daughter and her husband competing in USPSA/IDPA, if you know what that is. But, I don't take much interest in hunting, even though I encourage my grandson and his father to hunt and bring me some venison to grill. I find it more sporting to shoot at something that shoots back. Not much chance of that anymore.
Yes, I own a few guns, if that is any of your business. Couple of rifles and a few pistols. I probably have about a thousand rounds or so of ammo for my weapons. Nothing for your coming apocalypse though.
You're not paranoid? Are you not the gent that ends EVERY post with Stock UP On Ammo? Are you not the one that thinks all politicians are against you? Are you not the one that says he doesn't trust fast food people to handle your food properly? Not that it means much to me. Like I said before, more paranoid people the less people in line when I go there.
Interesting that you mentioned prairie dogs. I saw something very similar in my many travels through Turkey. By the way, how are Pdogs BBQ'd? Taste good? I guess the closest thing that I have had would be the squirrels that I used to hunt and eat. But, I have never eaten prairie dog.
