Most grocery stores have donation bins at the front of the store for unopened items.
I don't know of any store that takes opened food donations due to possible contamination.

The Wildwood Pantry and the Christian Foof Pantry of Lady Lake will take cans of food that are not opened. Please be sure they are in good condition, not bulging tops, not unlabled, and not out of date.

Opened food containers are a lawsuit waiting to happen.

Food must be unopened and in original packaging. In addition, is cannot be out of date. Most churches have bins for food donations in the narthex. No food bank will accept expired or opened foods.

New Covenant United Methodist Church has a box right in the main entry for Wildwood Food Pantry. The church is often open during the day with activities, so deposit the unopened food at your convenience.
