I've been accused (in jest) of whining...... and I know I have been !

I'M FREEKING COLD !! It's damp and rainy outside. My thermostat is set at 70 degrees but my 2nd floor master bedroom (where the 'puter is located) has that high cathedral ceiling...... beautiful to look at.... but like living in a meat locker! So, excuse me for whining......... and pass the cheese!

Anyone else wanna join me for a good whine :beer3:

Yes, I will whine along. I live in Paradise and have had a cold over the holidays.:ohdear::ohdear:

Guess I shouldn't be whining as the temperature here in Jersey has risen substantially since last weeks low 20's. Today was in the high 40's. Almost feels like summer!
But... I have been sick with a nasty cold for the second time in three weeks. I work in the cosmotology industry and women don't care if they are sick... they just NEED to have their nails done!! Sneezing, coughing, and blowing noses....no wonder I am sick. So...yes, I will join the cheese and whine party too. Thanks for the invite!

Pookir, Maybe you should wear a mask and keep antibacterial gel right on your station. If people are sick (infectious), they should have the courtesy to stay the h home.:cus:

Like, Sam, I live in Paradise. But my poor hubby, vetman has had the same cold (we thought) for the last two and a half weeks. Well, today we ended up at the doctor. Relapse. Bronchitis and possibly slight pneumonia. So we are laying around for most of the holiday excitement here. And now I'm worried about him and keep checking on him every two minutes! He's not contagious, but he sounds horrible! Whineeeeeeeeeeeeee! Pass the cheese! :icon_hungry: :cryin2:

Samm....Vetman...Pook....please feel better soon...perhaps you should drink some good WINE....for medicinal purposes of course!

Love to you all!

Chels -

I received the same diagnosis today as vetman's and have completely missed the holidays.
No fun and unfortunately, the thought of wine right now doesn't cut it, but whining and cheese definitely does!
When I picked up my mail today, the pool was packed.:sad::sigh::sigh:

That is a really nasty cold that is going around TV. Chels, sorry to hear that Vetman is ill again.

Island Gal .. What are you doing up at 3 AM if you are sick! Get to bed girl.

Have the dregs of a horrible cold in my head up here in Ohio and it will be 67 degrees in Cincinnati today! Hugs and chicken soup to like sufferers. Maybe not hugs this time.

What is this? 67 in Cincinnati and 47 in TV? What kind of a nasty joke is that??

It is really hard to whine. We will be returning to Paradise on the sixth. Please have an icy cold lemonade and a nice brie and crackers. I tried drinking wine for years and never could do it right. I have many friends who can attest to this.

I am also suffering from a bad cold. Have an awful cough. Was getting better, but had a house full on Christmas and somehow my cold had a relapse. Will pass on the cheese (not good for a cold) and I can't acquire a taste for wine. Will just sniff as you pass it by. I'll have some green tea with berries instead. I know Yuk.

I had a 24 hr bug. Maybe more like 27 hr and 18 min bug. Then I placed my hand on top of the computer and was instantly healed. I looked at the web cam in LSL. 63 and clear. But wait, it's warmer here in northern KY than TV???? What's up with that. Then I looked at the 5 day forecast here in KY. So much for warmth. And all we have are clouds. GET ME OUTA HERE. As for cheese - The sharper the better. And the wine, I don't drink but my resident wino mrs F, connaisseur of some of the best 24 hr wines available....I better quit while I'm ahead.

Alot of sickness up here too. Nick and I had the same thing about 2 weeks ago.
Actually put a hold on house showings until first of the year because of it.
Nasty bug.

Get better everybody.

I'll whine--want my house to sell soon! Gotta get to TV!!

I'm just getting over a bad headcold......I never get sick, but when I do I'm crabby.:yuck:
Worked at the firehouse all night Christmas Eve and all day Christmas....since we did Christmas on the 20th, I thought i'd help out the younger guys and work for them. It wasn't fun with the cold. Wife was lonely, but the money was good.

Can't get back down to Florida for another 126 days....can't wait. At least our big snowstorms seem to be over for now. The snowblower sure got a workout.

Life is too short to be unhappy. figure out what you want, then make a plan and do it! People have more regrets from what they never did then what they did do.

We have 919 more days until I can be there full time. I know exactly what I need to do with the house up here first, and am doing it step by step.

Like Nike says....just do it!!

CIB, Thanks for starting this thread. It is helpful to commiserate. I had a head cold earlier in the week, thought I was over it, and now it has morphed into more. My husband is visiting for Christmas (he still lives in Ohio) and now he has it. Ugh! The warm and bright sun does help though. I'm going to bake it out....

I really don't belong in this thread because I do not have a cold. But when I saw what you were whining about, it made me think of this old You Tube clip. Many, many months ago, this was posted on TOTV. But I think the occasion warrants a rerun.

btw, if anyone can understand what the paramedic says to the wife as he is leaving and she tells him she has a cold, too, please interpret for me. Since the first time I heard this thing, I have tried repeatedly to figure out what he says at that point. It is after he makes a face at her. It sounds like he is asking her if she has ever heard of something -- but I do not know what that something is. If you know, please tell me.

This is "Man Cold."

Boomer! I don't have a clue, but I thought he said Lamb Sip, so I googled it and there's a blog about it. Everyone guessing! I don't know if it's lamb sip, but I do think it's some kind of medicine sold in Great Britain.
That's just a guess! LOL

Oh woe is me! I have a virus, can't sell my house, wanna be in TV, its rainy and dreary here in Carolina, so I'm am also w(h)ining and feeling mopey. I hope everyone who is uneer the weather is feeling better, that the housing market picks up and we can all sell sell sell, and then have a REAL wine and cheese party in Paradise.

I am a longtime lurker and am patiently waiting for my husband to retire so we can make the move to The Villages. I do get a respite from the cold as we attend a wedding in Miami the first week in January. Thanks for the whine and cheese!

Evolve I love your picture. Its exactly the way I feel right now. And I'm a cat person as you can see from my picture.
When were you are Clark? I was there from 1977-1980.

It was my first assignment - I arrived there in January 1979 and left in January 1982. It was a good tour but my favorite was Aviano - I miss Italy he food, the wine, the people and going on volkmarches. Don't miss the job but Italy was the best.:wave:

So we did spend a short period there together. I also love Italy, never lived there but visited many times. I drool when I think about the food and wine. Probably a good thing I didn't live there.

Coney

I'm taking this back to your original post.

Whining is a way to get attention...not a positive trait. It's woe is me, feel sorry for me. In fact, I couple whining with spoiled and self serving.

Look...I live in Michigan where the weather is frightful. We have loads of snow, like you. We have ice. We have frigid temps, like yours...but I acted.

I know you have a house to sell. I know you are waiting until the price is right. I know you are eyeballing every retirement community in Florida. I know you are in many forums asking many questions.

So...my question to you. If you are so hell-bent with moving back to Florida, then why don't you put out the bucks and get your arse here to explore? Flights can be cheap if you research them. Stop the whining...just get here. What's your excuse?

I was hell bent...I flew here...I explored...I didn't whine! I didn't need cheese to convince me this was my Paradise.

Chelsea, Peggy, Punkpup,

Thanks for trying with me on that "Man Cold" thing. It does sound like "Lamb Sip" or maybe "Lamb Soup."

Chelsea, I wonder, too, if Lamb Sip is some kind of British cold medicine. And that thing about a blog on the topic -- I have not looked for it yet, but how weird is that? I still don't quite comprehend cyberspace, and the blogosphere or whatever it's called is just way beyond my comprehension. It sure has been a weird century so far.

So anyway, thanks for trying. That thing makes me laugh every time I watch it. We have introduced that pitiful phrase, "I called for you. Laura, Laaauuuurrrrrrraaaaaaaaa," into our family dialogue from time to time. You know how those things catch on. And also, "Poor little bunny."

I am glad you liked the little clip.

And I still don't have a cold. They don't like me much and don't visit too often. But whine on....

Boomer. What??? Are you nuts? I used to believe in the germ theory but after having children I now know that colds are caused by saying. MY KIDS HAVEN'T HAD A COLD ALL WINTER.

Don't say things like that. I am starting to boil the chicken for your chicken soup right now. Whew. I thought you were smarter than that.

CIB.....I think you are fabulous!! Take your time figuring out where you want to live, when you want to move and let us know so we can celebrate. I know your post was about whining about the cold weather...but it seems we all needed to whine a little bit about something. It is nice to know we can be open and honest on TOTV and get the support from friends.....

The cold weather was not fun in NY while we were there for Christmas...so I understand....but the colds that have hit everyone (my family included) are just as bad!!

I will be taking GG's advice from now on this one....I will never ever say that "my kids or family have not had colds all winter", again!!

Cause guess what!! They all have it...and apparently I don't even make GOOD chicken soup (they would rather have a cold?)....I am told Too Jays has some good Matza Ball soup ( chicken base) and that Carrabas has good Chicken soup as well....

Anyone know anywhere else???

Oh dear. I was not thinking. Now that I do think of it though, it is like what my mom always said. She would say that you should never criticize somebody else's kids because you never knew what your own might pull. (Come to think of it. She knew stuff.)

Ok, CIB! I'll join your whine party! We are still in the middle of all of the remodelling, getting ready to put the house back on the market in spring. The house has layers upon layers of dust. If you take off a layer, the next layer shows up with in the hour. My Christmas tree looks like we sprayed it with snow. (Unfortunately, I know it's not snow) :yuck:

We are getting away from the cold weather in January and going to visit my sister-in-law in Phoenix. However, we have since found out that she is planning to move back to Oregon, and my husband has volunteered us to help her. So we are going to help her fill a Uhaul and drive it up to Oregon at the beginning of February. So, our warm weather vacation is only going to be half of the time in the warm weather. The rest will be spent up in the cold Oregon weather like you, CIB. :cus:
