Can't cut DVD to play on TV

I have a movie downloaded on my computer in a FLV file and I have copied to several DVD's but they will not play on my TV. Not knowing what I am doing, I trusted several downloads that say they will convert so I can show them but none so far have worked. I probably am not doing it right. Since that time I uninstalled all those programs.

Which program are you using to make the dvd?

FLV is a flash video file for internet use. It is highly compressed with a lower frame rate. DVDs use a different format. Sounds like you are transferring it to a dvd but not making it the correct format google search came up with this , but I havn't tried it....
