Just a note, I haven't visited this site since '06 and was plesently suprised at how it has grown.

Thanks to the developer, it is a real benefit.

The developer of The Villages is not involved here, but thanks for the compliment.

Welcome back.

But this site is not associated with the developer at all.

I joined TOTV in November 2007. We had just returned from TV where we had rented for a month so that we could start thinking about whether to buy a small second home there someday.

I had been researching The Villages for quite awhile, but all I could find was stuff published by the developer. And while that was interesting, I knew that I wanted to learn things from people who knew things from their own experiences with TV. Primary sources.

And this is it.

I had Googled around for awhile before I found this place. I kept at it. I knew it had to be out there because TV is so big that surely somebody would have figured out this kind of thing was needed and had the potential to be quite successful. That old "Find a niche and fill it" thing.

The information you can get here is great -- important and practical. I guess I could say, "It's good to know."

There is other stuff here, too. Lots of topics that have nothing to do with TV but are interesting to some. And sometimes it's just plain fun. If you look at the titles of the various forums on the opening page, you will see what I mean. In the last year, this place has turned into some kind of huge library. There's a lot of stuff archived here.

I also have to say, I find the name "Talk of the Villages" to be absolutely a perfect name for the place, even though we talk about other things a lot, too. That title just works beautifully. I have always wondered who thought it up.

We have not been back to TV, but we will get there eventually. Life happens you know. But meanwhile, I return to TOTV -- a lot.

inasmuch as the author is new to this forum I interpret "developer" as the developers of this forum as opposed to "Developer" as in those who developed The Villages.

Having said that, I recently saw where this site was billed as the "official site" of The Villages. That might suggest to Newbies it is sanctioned by The Developer.

Downeaster,

You know what? Now that I take a second look, I think you're right. I was thinking "Big D" too.

Thanks.

I get it now.

Interesting.

Oh well, a big D, as in "Duh," for me. But I still probably would have written my post, or most of it, either way.

And I like it when people take a look at words and stuff like that. Thanks. Really. I mean that.

Remember that time there was a thread about commas. I thought that was fun, too. (ohhhhh, I am so pathetic.)
