Does anyone have any recent experience with Melton Construction of Lady Lake? We have a proposal from them for a summer kitchen, but would like to hear from others who have hired them.
Thank you in advance.

Ask for their list of customers with phone numbers then call random numbers. Do not ask for a reference list since they will steer you to who they want you to talk to. If it's a short list don't trust it. This forum is a small percentage of Villagers.

Does anyone have any information on Harbor Homes Construction? We are interested in using them for an addition. Any comments would be appreciated.

I would recommend Timberwood, located on rhe corner of 466 and 441. Tom Kent would be the contact. They do all the Premier homes in TV plus a bunch of after market projects. They did our pantry and home entertainment centers and we are very pleased. Did a summer kitchen for a friend and they are thrilled.

Personally, I would be pretty darned ticked off if a contractor I used did this without my prior permission and it would be the last time I used them.

Do not ask for a reference list since they will steer you to who they want you to talk to. If it's a short list don't trust it.

References are typically those satisfied customers who have given prior permission to be contacted and disgruntled ones, don't last long on the list.

It's simply a prudent business move, that any smart contractor follows.

I have found that a simple Google search, often yields good information on a specific contractor or service provider.

This forum is a small percentage of Villagers.

There are a plethora of methods in checking out a contractor, with this site being but just one.

I agree though, that this forum (especially the active members) is not all that large and isn't necessarily an accurate representation, of contractors doing business in The Villages.

Still though, doing a search of a particular contractor on this site ahead of time can often give a person a good idea of any problems or issues that have been experienced by the members here.
