Hi,
Thank you for allowing me to be a part of TOTV community!

Would anyone be willing to share information on the Charter School? I've heard that a parent needs to work for The Villages for their child to be eligible for the Charter School. We're planning on moving to FL and also need housing in a family area. I'd appreciate any and all comments (here or PM). My parents have lived in The Villages for 3 years and are encouraging us to move nearby.
Many thanks! Vicki

You do not have to work directly for The Villages. You can be a direct contractor or work on Village property. They have a Tier system for employment. Employed directly to The Villages you would be a Tier 1. A direct contractor Teir 2, and Village Property Tier 3. Call the Charter School for exact info on that. Once you have qualifed and register the kids for the school they go by the tier system for admission. A wonderful school. Do have uniforms.

As for a family section to live in, There is Bison Valley. It is right across the street from the school. That is great espcially since there are no school buses that serve the Charter School. Here is the website for Bison Valley. Got Red Lobster, Olive Garden, The Freshmarket right beside Bison Valley. Wal-Mart within walking distance also.

Very nice housing. It is owned by The Villages. Built by The Villages. 2 to 4 bedroom homes. It has golf cart access to The Villages also.
Good Luck.

Do yourself a big favor and thoroughly explore employment opportunities in the area -and- pay..... Most jobs around here pay far below what you may be familiar with, regardless where you are unless you're making shoes in Asia. Seriously - almost all school systems are laying off teachers due to budget problems and with the exception of retail and food service there aren't many opportunites around TV. Good luck with your quest.

I was and still am willing to give up a very large salary to take a small paying job.....to get our daughter into The Charter School... That is how much I believe in this schoool.

I'm reminded of the comment made by our dynamic Villages realtor a few years ago:

(With my training and experience) "I could have gone to work anywhere in the country. I came here. And after my kids have been in the Charter School for the last couple of years, I'd scrub toilets so they could stay there!"

You know...a week ago I may not have said this....but I too am so excited just after a week...seeing how happy my daughter is....there is life in her again!! I, the self proclaimed princess, would scrub toilets to KEEP her in this school!~!!!

When she got in the car after school on the first day, stated she had made 2 friends and was the happiest kid in the world. What more can a parent ask for!!

So...if I ever have to choose between scrubbing toilets and taking her out of the school...I will easily say....BRING ON THE TOILETS!!

Some one gave the web site of Bison Valley or something like that - is this part of the villages? If so are you able to use any of the amenities? What happens when you decide you no longer want to work in TV - do you have to move?

If you live in Bison Valley, you do not get use of any of the amenities of The Villages, unless you have realatvies living in TV. You do not have to work for TV to live there. If you are and buy a house there and leave you job, you do not have to move, your house..
