I hope someone can help us with a HUGE request. Our 7-year old niece knows we will be coming back to Illinois in a few weeks. When asking what she wants us to bring her, there have been two requests--sea shells and a shark's tooth. Rather that to drive to one of the beaches (which we did with her when she was down here visiting last year) can you think of any shops that sell sea shells. A souvenir shop of some kind is what we had in mind. I think maybe I kind find something to "pretend" as a shark's tooth, but she's pretty sharp and really wants sea shells.

I think there is a store in at one of the squares that sells sea shells and beach stuff....atleast that is what I remember from last year....haven't been there in a while and I live here...YIKES!! I think it was actually called Life's a Beach....perhaps I was dreaming but I really think there is one...

Call Nantucket Bay....I know it is a clothing store but with a name like that...bound to be some sea shells there!!!

If I remember correctly it is

Bobbon--You don't have to find a pretend shark's tooth. We have LOTS of them. We used to winter in Myrtle Beach and my husband walked the beach everyday looking for shark's teeth. We also used to find them on the Rappahannock River in Virginia. We have a WHOLE container full--in addition to a small dresser lamp that I filled with them. If you will PM me, maybe we can meet at one of the squares and I will give you some to take to your granddaughter--be happy to do so. I can pick out some different ones for her. One winter he found over a 1000. We were there for three months. Just let me know. We used to enjoy giving them to the children who were playing at Myrtle Beach.

I have some real pretty shells that you are welcome to - pm me and I could meet you at one of the squares and give them to you. I've had them in a glass bowl but am changing things so this would be perfect. I know she would like them. You could call me also 750-3684

I'm pretty sure that the places that sell fruit for shipment, etc. also have
shells and things like that. I remember stopping at one last year and looking at the things.

We are about to embark on the adventure of a lifetime, we're moving to TV.
To some it might not be a big deal but we've only lived in NY all our lives so this is big for us. Sometimes we get a bit nervous, frightened and then I come across a post like this; total strangers helping someone and their grandchild make a memory and happy to do it.
What a place! So happy we found it.

We feel the same way. I got on-line hoping to find some information and I think I've found the most generous, helpful people in the world.

I have some prehistoric shark's teeth from Venice Beach. If you contact me at talkofthevillages you may come over and pick out several for free. It would be my pleasure.

We would like to thank mfp509, sandybill2, and jtdraig for their responses to our 7-year old niece's request. I wish you all could see her surprise when we take these treasures home to her in March. She'll love them. You have all helped to make a little girl very happy. The Villages residents are the greatest, most generous people in the world.

You might also try Beall's Outlet in Colony Plaza (probably all Beall's Outlets, too). Happened to see some shells in there today. $3.99 for a bunch of them. Look in the back of the store.

On Hwy 441 going to Leesburg there is a old Sea Shell Tourist Store on the East side of the road, maybe three miles or so South of Home Depot. It is very run down looking but has tons of old shells and nic-nacs that were popular in the 50's & 60's.
