Dirt???

I know this is a strange question, but does anyone know where to get dirt analyzed? Our neighbor thinks that two spots on our land and one spot on theirs might be toxic from something spilled there by either the builder or pesticide people. Nothing grows there! Grows beautifully everywhere else.

Any suggestions??? Thanks

Here in Jersey, we have agricultural centers that will do that for you. Check your local phone directory or call the college. They should be able to direct you to the nearest one.

Yes, I believe they have a question and answer forum 2x's per month. They bring in Master Gardeners and put on a meet and greet....QA session. FREE of charge!!


You could bring pictures and samples....they would probably love a mystery like this...

Another possibility..... there might be some construction debris (wood, concrete, etc) just under the surface that is preventing anything from taking root and growing. This happened in one of my houses up north. So, get vetman to probe down in the soil a bit and see if he runs into an obstacle.

Check the yellow pages for "Environmental Laboratories". The State of Florida "certifies" commerical labs ... the approved labs must pass inspections and quality control samples (aka "tests") which are distributed to them once or more per year (depending on the matrices). I urge you to use only a "certified" lab.
