Robert Kagan on Trump: 'This is how fascism comes to America' - Business Insider (http://www.businessinsider.com/robert-kagan-trump-2016-5)

Donald Trump's seeming ignorance or just plain disrespect for the US Constitution is truly frightening.

Did you forget Obama's disrespect for the constitution?

:agree:...totally.

I don't know for sure, but I am willing to bet that Obama has probably had the most issues with the Supreme Court, a liberal court where his directives have been deemed UNCONSTITUTIONAL. And he is supposed to be an expert on the subject of the Constitution. What a joke!

Cruz was so bold he said if he was elected, he would insure any us law not in line with his understanding of his version of the bible would be thrown out. At least trump is better than that jerk

Taken out of context, of course. But, it is a moot point, since Cruz is not the nominee.

Wrong, he said clearly that the King James Bible would be final law over the constitution

Like I said before, it is a MOOT point. Besides, some would consider that a good thing. King James did publish a pretty good version, once it was brought up to today's reading standard. That old King James version was almost unreadable. Hardly English by American standards.

Actually Barack Obama has shown quite a lot of respect for the US Constitution as have many US Presidents.

Is Trump's disrespect compared with Obama's total disrespect for anything American? Just wondering.

There is no fair comparison for Obama's disrespect for all things traditionally American (or white).

Give power to the church to chime in when laws are being legislated and we would be no better than the Middle East. God is a wonderful crutch for many Americans, but he/she/it has no place in determining law for all Americans. All Americans have rights oven if they feel GOD is fiction.

There must be a point in the above religious hate catharsis somewhere.

Your thoughts are of a minority, a very small minority. I wonder if there are any countries in the world that might be of atheist nature? I don't think so. I guess you are safe here with the liberals of our great nation. You can believe what you want until they decide otherwise.

The basis of most of our laws is of Judeo-Christian origin.

This issue of respect or lack thereof is much broader.

Let me preface my point of view with the following:
People seem to place the cart before the horse.
We hear this common refrain s/he disrespects me (disses) me.

In order for one person to no longer hold respect for another, respect first has to be earned.

For someone then to say s/he disrespects me calls for an assumption that respect was already earned or that respect is an entitlement.

This is a sad result of our nation's broadening of a entitlement mentality.

I make this distinction because as is reflected in daily accounts by verbal, written or optics many people in this nation have no respect for themselves.

If people have no respect for themselves ( principles, etc) why would powerful people worry because they recognize they could roll right over them by appealing to their animal (emotional) instincts.

In short don't blame Clinton or Trump, etc blame your collective selves

OMG atheist, are you serious? I have a deep understanding and love of Jesus Christ. I also have love and respect for my fellow Americans that have different faith than I. Liberal, again, are you serious? I am a life member of the NRA, a proud Gun owner and have voted for far more republicans than democrats over my life. You do know that you can be a conservative and not believe in the total dominance from one faith. America is the great nation it is because of our religious tolerance. Unless you are a KKK grand dragon, you should understand that.

Nice post. I do believe that guns are needed for home protection and the like but draw the line there. They are not going to do much good against what is in the Armories around the US especially when these are backed by Apache helicopters and other aircraft as well as tanks and heavy artillery.

And the US is a nation of many faiths including atheism.

And what do you think happens to their families? You think the police and army are going to turn on the citizens? Never gonna happen. They'd come home from their daily raiding to a burned down house and their wife and kids...well, we won't talk about that.

Yes, unfortunately, we have religion in this country.

Well stated post? A naive post with no forward thinking.

Why must we respect everyone? Do you respect murderers? Rapists? Pedophiles? Thieves? So you don't really, you just say you do...

Ah, but he hasn't gotten any of his employees killed, hasn't broken federal laws jeopardizing national security, and has not been sleeping when his leadership is needed. He is not being investigated for tax fraud, and treason. But, those are just minor little blemishes on Hillary, that can probably be explained off as Republican conspiracies.

Dear Guest: Please do not confuse cogent thought and standing by one's beliefs as closed mindedness.

Ask yourself if progressives are so progressive than why hasn't billions upon billions of dollars toward poverty wiped out poverty? Ask yourself given that 98% of college professors are progressive ( 35% of which is Marxist) colleges students seek save places?

Why are major city under the leadership of progressives failing?

Why under progressive leadership have public pension funds are close to insolvency?

Why under a progressive president 's policies and regulations has this economy not moved forward?

Why............et cetra et cetra et cetra

Yes, their favorite BS to spew...you're closed mined, you're a racist, a misogynist, if you don't agree with them.

Because we're NOT all equal?

Because they're full of minorities?

Promises were made that they couldn't keep. AND, the fed is keeping interest rates artificially low so the government can pay the interest charges from all the debt, $20 trillion!

Because the jobs were sent overseas when unions raised employee costs above what can be paid and the dead weight of EEO quotas and affirmative action.
