Continue termite contract?

After the termite prevention procedure is completed, is it a good idea to continue the contract on an annual basis?

Yes, I think so. It's only about $100 per year after that and includes an annual inspection. You might say, $100 is a lot for a 15' inspection BUT it includes all the work needed should there ever be termites.

There is not to my knowledge a homeowner policy that will cover damage done by vermin, insects, etc . It is an exclusion in homeowner policies

I would suggest that residents here continue their termite treatments and inspection.

A termite protection plan does two things. it uses preventive methods to ensure an invasion. It covers damage if an invasion ensues. I am sure like all contracts their are some limitations

100% agree unless covering the costs of damage repair and termite mitigation after the fact don't worry you in the least......

Yes because the chemicals initially used are not as good as those in the old says. Also make sure there is a repair bond.

I recently spoke to the manager at Dean's on this subject. They treated our home initially and we signed up for the annual service. He said that the annual inspection is that, plus they chemically retreat any moist exterior spaces around the perimeter of the slab. I had termites in a previous home in FL, so in my opinion, money well spent.

We've lived in Florida since 1998 and we have always kept a termite bond in place.

I agree on the bonded issue. Let's face it nothing in this world is 100% guaranteed.

I took Massey's best treatment method including the attic. but given human error and insect persistence well breaches are a possibility.

I do know some homes here were infested because the homeowners allowed a lapse in termite treatment after they purchased their homes

If there is a better protection regime than described in these pages please bring it to our attention

What you are really buying with the annual inspection is an insurance policy that will pay for remediation and repairs if the annual inspection shows evidence or termites and termite damage.

My only suggestion is to select one of the larger, more well known companies servicing The Villages. We use Massey, but there are others.
