Took this photo when the Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall was set up in Lady Lake. I think it says it all.

I am honored to be one of those guarding the wall when it comes to Urbana in two weeks. I delayed traveling down to The Villages for my son’s visit to our Florida house to be able to participate. We will also have a Military Appreciation Days honoring our Vietnam veterans at Grimes Field on that Saturday.

HATS off!
Along the street there comes
A blare of bugles, a ruffle of drums,
A flash of color beneath the sky:
Hats off!
The flag is passing by!
Blue and crimson and white it shines,
Over the steel-tipped, ordered lines.
Hats off!
The colors before us fly;
But more than the flag is passing by.
Sea-fights and land-fights, grim and great,
Fought to make and to save the State:
Weary marches and sinking ships;
Cheers of victory on dying lips;
Days of plenty and years of peace;
March of a strong land’s swift increase;
Equal justice, right and law,
Stately honor and reverend awe;
Sign of a nation, great and strong
To ward her people from foreign wrong:
Pride and glory and honor,—all
Live in the colors to stand or fall.
Hats off!
Along the street there comes
A blare of bugles, a ruffle of drums;
And loyal hearts are beating high:
Hats off!
The flag is passing by!

Thats me in the picture wearing my The Villages Vietnam Veterans shirt in front of the churchs float before the start today of the memorial parade in Springfield, Ohio. I love parades and love to honor those who have served. My dad, who passed away six years ago, was honored by having his name on our float as a WWII combat infantryman.

With the help of several veterans who are high school classmates of mine, we guarded the wall today in Urbana, Ohio.
