Has anyone else noticed that the amenity fee went up? When we got our water bill there was a small charge which stated that the amenity fee was increased based on the consumer price index; it was stated that the amenity fee is subject to an annual increase. I was not aware of this.

Yes, it is based on the CPI. Mine has gone up $1.86 over the last 2 years. Pretty small increase.

Very tiny increases happen every year.

We purchased in November of 2012. Our amenity fee was $145. It has gone up several times and is now $150.79. Granted it is money well spent. However it just doesn't seem quite fair that the current fee for people purchasing today is still $145. We'll always be paying more for the same benefits. BTW - my neighbor who purchased a few months before we did told me they started with a monthly fee of $138 and has increased but still pay less than what we pay. I wonder if anyone pays more than $150.79 which I'm sure is about to increase again.

Look on your driveway for the POA bulletin, this month covers the Amenity Fee.

Thanks Bogie. I do know all amenity fees are not the same but unsure for the reason. Some original owners never had an increase as long as they owned the property. Good deal for them.

Yes, it is based on the CPI, but is a small percentage. In 2009, ours actually went down because the CPI went down. Ours changes each September, based on the month we bought. It seems to be a very fair system and we definitely get a lot for our money.

Looks like there is a copy of the POA Bulletin available at the POA website.

I'm just glad that the amenities doesn't go up anywhere near the increases or car, home owners and medical insurance does every year. To offset the increase simply play a couple of extra rounds of golf, jump into a pool more often, enjoy some music at the squares or take advantage of the other many things offered it The Villages.

One night of free music in the square each month should cover that increase.

I think I once read that some were grandfathered in at some point, I think on the historic side.

Good information. Is there a place to go to find out a break down on how these funds are distributed.

How is the $$$$$ distributed. I say it's complicated. What can you do with 7,000,000 to 8,000,000 (more or less) a year? But most "everything" in TV is fairly new now but as we kick the can down the road (like our politicians do to be re-elected) maintenance and replacement will get more expensive........Oh well, the "silent generation" (65 and up) we don't need to be concerned. Leave it to the next generation of retirees. Enjoy!

Better check you figures.

Lets say $145 a month average - 12 months a year - I'll guess 55000 houses +/- ( you might be a little off at 7 or 8 mil )

Go to the District web site and sign up for the emails. They will send you emails that tell you of all meetings. That's where you get the straight answers. Go to a budget meeting, go on line and read an agenda or wait until the meeting is over and read the minutes. Do your homework. The other choice is to get your info. from TOTV. and whatever you do... don't read the "Sun", you might learn something. I heard they put something in the ink to brain wash you! Don't know if it's true. Maybe one of the new "experts" will post and tell us.

Mine's been the same for the past six months. It went up by $5.00 in Dec and went back down. It went up by $5.00 last October and also wen back down.

I wonder if they just make it up as they go along.

145 a month times 55000 homes equals almost 8 million a month.

Bingo. Close to a hundred million annually and going up every month.
It's the best $150.00 a month I spend.

I'm not complaining. I agree with you 100%. I think this place is beautiful, it's like living in a park. We use the pools, we get a free room for our Opera Club meetings etc etc etc. Mary and I are happy campers.

I guess the cpi cap keeps the older residents fees potentially lower. The new buyers have to pay the current established rate, which may not be subject to a cpi cap when set. Once set, I think it then is subject to the cpi cap.

Sorry but....

$145/mo X12 mo x55,000 houses is 95.7 million!

I think it's more like 57,000 homes, = 99.18 million!!!!

My amenity bill has increased $5, in 3 years. Extremely reasonable, for what is provided. IMHO

No worries!
