The "other news" is reporting that a man was arrested after wrestling with a woman over saving a seat at Spanish Springs. Unbelievable behavior and fight over a seat at the Square. What is wrong with people?

He should be banned from all Squares, pay a stiff fine and perform community service. You would think a 70+ old man would have better sense.

I say "Give him the chair!" Not the one on the Square... the one in Starke. :police:

The woman is 72 and he allegedly grabbed her wrist “very hard” and stomped on her left foot two times in an attempt to remove her from a chair. Arrested and charged with battery. chilout

Why did he do this? Who would do this? I would be so ashamed if I was arrested for this, I could not show my face. What was he thinking? I cannot think of any excuse at all for someone doing this at the age of 67.
His wife must be so embarrassed. How could he think he was in the right to claim "his" saved chair?
I know why they don't have folks to enforce the no saving seat rules. Someone would take them on just like this guy did. No one would want a physical altercation as a risk for the job.

So, this Jerk assaults a lady sitting in a chair that he is not entitled to reserve after she says she is going to move in front of witnesses...and calls it "stand your ground"????? You have to wonder if he was two sheets to the wind heading for four or five OR on some kind of meds or off those meds OR is this guy just plan stupid. Got his name and ugly face in the paper and is having to bond out of jail and will be facing a judge and will have to pay big bucks for an attorney, court fees, and, best of all, if the lady decides to sue his aorry butt, perhaps a judgement against him. He will now have a record (perhaps to go with the rest of his records if he in fact has it) and has ruined his reputation and that of his family. Not only that but gives the paper witch Lauren Ritchie more fodder to show her hatred for The Villages. What an absolute moron.

Woman to man "Possession is 9/10ths of the law"
Man to woman: "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore"

He should be so proud of himself BULLYING a woman!
What is wrong with some people?
If the Villages continues to ignore the seat saving situation at the Squares this behavior will only get worse.

Seat Saving Rage! The guy really lost it. He needs some anger management courses, community service, something. Perhaps he was off his meds or needs some meds...
Really, something needs to be done about the "entitled class", i.e., seat savers. I have encountered them. They tend to be disagreeable folks, hurting the image the developer wants to promote as Florida's Friendliest Hometown. That alone should inspire enforcing the rules.

From what I read, this is not the first incident over a saved chair at one of the Squares. Is chivalry dead here in The Villages? Were there any men around when this happen? It would be nice to get an eye witness report from a person who was actually there when this played out. Never mind enough........well, they say many seniors revert back to their childhood and this is certainly third grade behavior. You really don't know to laugh or cry.

Why did she not just disengage? Probably has a history of blowing on the flames - so common with these entitled old farts. She by taking "his" seat is no better.

Another case of a "entitlement".
It would have been much easier to walk away. chilout IMHO
People acting like 3 year olds, "that's my toy, give it back to me".
I would be ashamed of myself, if I had stooped to this level of behavior.
I expect this thread will last, for a long time.

Yep....
I have yet to see a story about a woman today (elderly) fleeing the police on a lawn mower on a cart path with a bottle of E&J brandy in her lap....

I think a few nights in jail for these clowns who save seats and become abusive, would do wonders for their attitude.

Yes, what a jerk assaulting a 72 year-old lady over a chair!
If it weren't so pathetic, it would be laughable.

Seriously? She taking "his" seat is equivalent to his assault on her? That my friend is laughable and I would have no problem telling you that to your face. :a20:

Seems that the guy paid a pretty high price for that free entertainment chair! Wonder if he bonded out in time to get back for the show and if his friends saved a seat for him to come back to!

ARRESTED-DOES NOT MEAN GUILTY
The police would arrest him to give him a chance to cool off.
I expect NEITHER PARTY is innocent.
I also expect there is video that will show the story told by both parties varies from TRUTH.

Your correct. At the UPS store today the line was long, I got my turn in about 15 minutes. Two separate people behind me in line were about to go into orbit over waiting. I let them go before me, they were astonished and had no clue how to handle my good will gesture. Do you think they would have the paperwork that they needed faxed ready nooooooo. Or a credit card that worked. Same thing as these people fighting over a chair. Everyone wants to be first obviously at any cost. Neither UPS customers acknowledged their mistake or good fortune. People suck. It's comical.
