LAKELAND — A body was found in the mouth of an alligator in Lake Hunter on Tuesday afternoon.

A citizen called the Lakeland Police Department to report the incident, said Sgt. Gary Gross. When police arrived at Lake Hunter Drive and Cresap Street, the gator still had the body in its mouth.

This is just a reminder that these animals are predators, not tourist attractions.

Conjecture is that the body was a "street person" who had died and was found by the gator. No official report yet.
