Does the Villages have adequate security in your opinion? Anyone that rents can use the gate passes to gain entry into the communities? How safe do you feel?

When I say renters I mean people that are there for a few days. Not long term renters

You don't need to rent here to wander around in here. There are red buttons at the gate, remember?

Are you safe? I don't know about you, but I'm safe. I carry a CCW with me and I am fairly proficient at martial arts and other dirty defensive tricks. And I protect my family and friends, without them even realizing it. I am sure there are plenty of seniors in The Villages just as prepared as myself. I would venture to say that you are probably more safe here than most places in America, probably even safer than on a military base.

There's ONE reason...demographics. No diversity.

It's not the responsibility of The Villages to provide you with "Security." That is your responsibility with the assistance of a roving police presence when they are not running hundreds of calls. If you can't afford a security guard to accompany you, then consider learning how to defend yourself. If you feel you are physically unable to protect yourself, then a small, concealable handgun is an option. Yes, I realize that guns are not for everyone. It's just a suggestion. There is also the option of enhancing your home security, making it more difficult for the bad guy to enter you home uninvited.

Dare I say it?

The Villages IS NOT A GATED COMMUNITY!!!!!!

The gates are for traffic control.....nothing more.

The roads are public roads....access denied to no one!

We are all most likely safer living here in TV than from where most of us came from.

Because of the demographics! 99.9% white.

It DOES make a difference!

:agree:

The safest place to live is in the solitary confinement of a prison. Or, you can buy one of those old 20th century homes that have an underground survival bunker. If you put cable TV/Internet down there and stock it well enough, you should be able to stay down there for up to a year, or so. Might want to install some grow lights down there for vitamin D. :D
