My hubby & I are in TV until 1st of March and are SO thankful that we found out about this place! How did YOU first find out about The Villages? A lady that used to work for me was on a airplane and she said everyone talked about it non stop....so I Googled it and the rest is history:):)
There was a very nice story about TV in the New York Post. :1rotfl:

A similar story was in the Orlando Sentinel and on WESH-2 News and CNN Worldwide 2 years ago.

I can't believe this article has surfaced again - and the disgusting comments.
I think we should all send a comment to The Post with our positive testimonies.
I just did.

Gee I don't know islandgal. Those 3 PM monthly meetings at that restaurant are pretty risque. An then there's those all afternoon parties that go on till after ABC News with Charles Gibson is over.
:blahblahblah::popcorn: They gotta write about something to try to promote sales.

I convinced my wife to move down here because of those articles. Neither one us has found those people in the articles, but we keep trying.

Posted on another thread about this. Fox news picked it up. Makes TV sound sleazy! Maybe less people will come as kids won't want "Mom or Dad subjected to what goes on in TV"! Remember different places your kids wanted to go but you said "NO! I've heard what goes on there"!

Hi Everyone,
My Hubby and I are frequent visitors to the Villages from NY and as soon as I retire we will probably move down (hopefully). This article was on page 17 of the NY Post. It was really funny to see such a big article about the Villages. We didn't know that there was so much going on that we really didn't know about. I guess there is a big sub-culture in the Villages. As I always say to each their own and whatever floats your boat. We always said that the Villages is the place to be...

Just recycled material that's been around for some time. Must have been a slow news day!

Since when do your kids have the final say on what you do? Unless they want to pay for it of course:laugh:

I think SEX IN THE VILLAGES is nobody's business except the consenting adults. I resent having people think that men are fighting over women with canes and that anyone would lose their dentures. I say to the babies eating this Pablum. GROW UP!

Without a doubt! This same story gets boring time and again. And likely this holds true all over 'Retirement Land,' and the fact that TV is so big makes the numbers (likely not the percentages) higher....

The Sales Office probably gets a significant increase in inquiries whenever that story appears(reappears).
If I were cynical, I might think there would be a connection.

Seniors with STDs having sex in golf carts and parking lots? :yuck:
I'm thinking that the people who write this stuff have vivid imaginations.
And I thought the most exciting thing that happened in TV was mahjong lessons.

The bronx girlsex sells, reality doesn't. Hate to disappoint anyone but that info is not representative of life in tv.

My husband saw the report today on Fox News and he whipped off his "The Villages" hat and said..."OMG, I'm embarassed to tell anyone where were retireing, now!" Someone said it makes TV sound sleazy, well, sounds disease ridden...though I KNOW it's not representative of "the whole". ug.

Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain! The Villages gets the name and other retirement communities play the game..
SEX SELLS!!!!!!!!! The Villages is a great place and always will be! I could care less what they say about it..
I love it there, and wish I could be there now, instead of sitting in PIA PA. waiting for another foot of snow!

You are too funny :icon_wink:
My husband and I didn't know anything about this stuff until the day before we visited TV for the first time. We met a couple while vacationing in Mt. Dora and they told us all about the swingin' singles of TV. Initially we were a little worried asking ourselves "what have we gotten ourselves into?" The lifestyle preview visit was either a blast or a bust depending on how you look at it. I mean not one man hit on me and neither did anyone try to sell my husband Viagra on the black market.
Since then we've gotten lots of good hoots out of the rumors.

I don't know about the sexy stuff that goes on in TV, but staying up past Charlie Gibson going off the air on ABC evening news is DISGUSTING. What will the world come too??
That article is older than dirt and about as authentic.

We are in our home in South Florida and went to a party this evening. A couple we did not know, and they did not know that we had bought in TV, brought the article for all to read. Their son had sent it to them from up north. It is a topic of conversation.
Who would have thought anyone would think that is true?
Does that mean that property values will go up? Or down?

There were two threads yesterday on this topic. This is a very tired piece of 'journalism' that has very little basis in fact according to the residents here at TOTV.

Hi Russ,
I a bit behind time wise, I live in England.
So what if the older generation want to have some fun. It is not our business.
We have been visiting TV for nearly 15 years now, and have never seen any inapropriate behaviour, but, then a gain, I am not looking!! My friends who are permanent residents have told us all about the local 'ladies' (NOT Villages residents) who hang around the bars. Same in every large town?
