leak detection company?

Has anyone used a company in or near TV to find a leak?

We thought we had found the leak, had it repaired, but our usage is out of sight.

Call Jim Baumgardner, I thought we had the same problem, turns out, we had a broken sprinkler head, and the neighbor was watering way too much, he was able to fix both problems, very good and very reasonable. I have posted his contact info several times, and I think he advertises on this site.

Where do you think the leak is, inside or outside your home? My friends were using a lot of water also, I put food coloring in the back of their toilets and checked back later and found colored water in the guest bath toilet bowl changed the ball flapper, their usage has went down by 10,000 gallons. Just from a leaking toilet.

Interesting point, I was assuming OP was talking about irrigation, OP, are you concerned about potable water or irrigation water? Also, are you asking about a leak outside (aka a wet section of lawn), or inside? Please provide more information so we can help.

Thank you for the replies. It is a water leak, giving us 30,000+ usage a month. We had the pool inspected, and the auto feed to the pool dug up. No leak. Then the koi pond was inspected and a crack in the feeder tray had greenery growing from it, so there was an obvious leak. Also, the auto water feed to the pond ran continuously. (It is just a toilet ball float.) That was repaired. We waited for the next bill thinking all was repaired, but our bill is still 30,000+. We have no soggy spots in the yard. I will call TV water again, but so far have done all that they suggested. And, one repair man said you can watch the meter running. The sprinkler system was inspected.

We hired a water leak company that only looked for water leaks for our pool in Bonita Springs, FL. They did find the leak. I would like to hire a specialty company for this house. Or someone some else has used.

If this is a new home, I think the irrigation is covered for 2 years, call home warranty. If you are lucky, you can call home warranty, and get the name of the company that installed the irrigation piping, they "should" know where the lines are installed.
You can do some investigation yourself. Turn on one zone at a time manually, look at the water meter see how fast it is running, look at all of the sprinklers to see if they are operating correctly, mark any that are questionable. Turn off that zone read the meter again. Try to run each zone for the same time. If you get a really high reading on a specific zone, look there for a leak. My neighbor had a problem right at the box where the flow valves are located, 2 of the 90 degree connectors were defective (on the supply side of course), and leaked continuously. He noticed water and dampness in the garden area, nothing in the lawn.

Look at the posting on spa repair they had the name and phone number for a leak detection service, ACE something.

And I should have figured it out. Our sprinkler system was set before we bought the home, and I NEVER checked the timing! Derrick, from the water company, said that when a home is for sale, the sales person may jack up watering times to keep the lawn greener. As I posted in another thread, I am embarrassed about not finding the problem myself.

Anyway, ours was set to water two extra full cycles a week! 1900 gallon a time =16,000 gal a month!

Thanks for the follow-up, I know of a case where the exact same thing happened, and Jim found the problem with the settings when he was checking all of the sprinklers. He reset the controller and estimated the savings of 50% on the water bill.

Can anyone recommend someone to check for irrigation leaks?
I got a very high bill in June, 22,550 galloons. I checked the timer and looked at every sprinkler as I walked around the house. No obvious leaks. I looked at the meter when the irrigation system was off and the dial was not moving.
I checked the zones and I am watering twice a week, for a total of about 1.5 hours each time.
I just got my July bill and I used 20,630. My usage before June was averaging about 8,000.
I don't know who to have check it out, but any recommendations would be appreciated.
