Did something change without my knowledge - or me, being in a drunken stupor, that Poltical Forum posts are now tagged with our screen names?
That is one positive step that should cut down on the racist posts and personal name calling.
I would go one further - print the real names of the posters and not just the screen names.
Thank you, Administrator!

I very much agree with you. This would bring civility to forum and I also believe greatly improve intellectual content.

I hope it is not just a glitch that will resort back to guest.
I much prefer to have at least some idea if who is involved in a thread.
It would also eliminate those ridiculous self conversations that some depend on.
This is my post to see if it is still in effect.

Political forum a waste time and space anyway. it won't change nothing. Liberals will always be liberal. Conservative will always be opposite. Until we get rid of political parties, super delegates, electoral college, this corrupt system we have will flourish. And you thing your vote counts:1rotfl:

It takes a some time for your screen name to convert to guest. That's what I've seen.

Not sure if actual real names would work but screen names for sure. Obviously, I don't have a problem with that.

If you post on the political forum from an Android using the Tapatalk app it has always and continues to show your real screen name...no change on my end since the political forum was resurrected...

I do not believe it would change a thing nor am I in favor of providing this forum with real names.
I do not support the printing of real names because (1) people deserve their privacy (2) some members even with usernames feel intimidated to post (3) brazen members would be at your door steps (4) some members would hold back their real thoughts (5) some of us focus on content of other posters comments, not the poster, and respond to those comments (ie its pure dialogue) (6) if one so desire s/he can meet other posters every third Friday at Crisper.
The Political Forum was closed before because remarks and behavior had gotten out of hand. Many members of that forum knew each other personally and/or by username. It got ugly it got personal and nasty on line ,and with PM's so TOTV Admin shut it down and rightly so.
I prefer username, I prefer PM's and I prefer the ability to edit but its not available with Political Talk. I will accept all of those precautions to protect members and to keep Political Talk viable. I assure you if OP's suggested and sincere request is acted upon in the affirmative political Talk won't last a month
Personal Best Regards:

Real names would be a step too far, but posting at least user names I'm betting will make the nastiest posters think twice.
Good move IMHO. : thumbup:

My post here yesterday showed my screen name. Today it has been converted to guest.
The new posts I have made this morning on other political threads show my screen name.
Something is either not working or is in process.
The other problem I am encountering here on political is when either posting a reply or entering a new thread, when I hit the submit reply my browser goes to a blank page. I then have to access TOTV and then onto Political. The posts are made as submitted, but now have to re-enter the web sight after each post???????

When I submit a post, my screen goes blank and does not show the updated thread. I have to exit and come back in. Is this going to be the norm, or is this just a temporary glitch? I can/am working with it, so it is just a minor inconvenience. Thanks for the service.

People should "man up" to their beliefs and not care who knows, we are old enough to not care if potential employers see it.

I think it was an interesting experiment. I read lot of centered and left leaning opinions from many different people. I wonder if those people were always posting or decided to post. I felt better about the villages.
I don't think it costs anything to make a new category. Why not have 2 political threads? One with screen names and one without. There would be more participation, more eyes and this would make the advertisers happier.

There definitely was a difference in the type of posts. The hard core spewers who hide by anonymity were kept on the sidelines. But just like pond scum they'll be back.

Some will speak to the fact it does not matter if your screen name is shown or not.
I personally believe we experienced, as short as it was, a sort of civility along with the screen names.
And of course there would be those who did not or would not post with a screen name showing VS their positions when viewed as one of the guests.
Hypocracy is alive and well as well as courage of convictions.
Me for example, you get the same as guest or screen name or real name or face to face. I may not like some other positions or opinions but I do offer the respect of the other person having one different than mine.
The screen names showing the last few days had the radical, antagonistic, aggravators to a bare minimum.
I still say to the owners of the forum to allow screen names, allow edits, allow ignore and let it self police as it does now. Give the up front warnings and inform folks they are on their own if they enter. It always amazed me the people who would opt in and then complain about content. No actually it made me laugh......that is until they became an additional unwanted burden to the administration.
Enter at your own risk. Don't like it....get out.
The rest of us can handle the off the wall hell raisers......just like we did before.
Two things I really wish we had. The ignore button. And a bite me emoticon!!

And then we can always count on your "one-liners" that have absolutely nothing to do with the thread. Just a bit of partial wit, not to slur but half-wit if you will.

I hope I can always count on Chi-Towns one liners. They are about the thread and sometimes do slur. More often the posts try to diffuse the situation.
You see the screen name. You get to prejudge. Have the self control not to read the post.
When "We" see the Guest screen name "We" have to read it to know the content. Although usually you can see the direction in a few words and stop reading.

The "extreme" position often proves to be the "right" position more often than we'd like to believe. The "middle ground" is inevitably, a compromise, no good for anyone.

:agree:....compromise means that both parties are not satisfied. Unlike Obamacare, where only one party got it's way and the whole country now suffers for their haste to always be "first" in everything.

I hope.

Wrong again.
Those who are intelligent, realize the truth most often lies between the extremes.
Being a 'Centrist' simply shows that most things are NOT black/white and they can see the nuggets of truth from that being spewed from BOTH extremes.
There is nothing to be proud of being an 'extremist'...of any stripe.

There are a hell of a lot more right-wingnut "trolls" here, than those in the middle or left.
Just the fact that someone who isn't a right-wing extremist is being called a "troll,"....says it all. :boom:

Where did you come up with that? You are totally wrong. There is NO truth in the middle. There is right, wrong and compromise. The middle is not right, it is compromise. And you probably need to look up the definition of compromise, because it is not being right.

Ah, says the troll.
A troll makes radical statements in order to bait an argument that can't be won. A troll purposely changes the subject or diverts from the subject when he has no contribution to the thread, but needs attention. I think we all know that there is one liberal troll on here that fits that description.. Mr. Boom.

Thank you for an example of being a liberal troll.
But, why are you crying about being surrounded by conservatives, when you walked into the situation knowing ahead of time that The Villages has a conservative majority? Last I heard, there is no more law preventing partisanship in a community like The Villages than there is a majority of liberals in the Chicago ghetto.
It is hardly my fault that Obama has turned out to be the worst president in history, and just happens to be the best black man that the Democrats thought they could control as first black president. When he was campaigning, I could tell by his socialist ideology that he was not going to be up for the job. Therefore I did not vote for him. Not because he is black but because of his racial chip on his shoulder and his penchant toward socialism.

You would be more comfortable with Sharia Law.
"The Arabic word "shariah," according to one modern English-language student textbook on Islam, "literally means a straight path (Quran 45:18) or an endless supply of water. It is the term used to describe the rules of the lifestyle ordained by Allah. In more practical terms, shariah includes all the do's and don'ts of Islam." In other words, shariah is held by mainstream Islamic authorities - not to be confused with "radical," "extremist" or "political" elements said to operate at the fringes of Islam - to be the perfect expression of divine will and justice and thus is the supreme law that must comprehensively govern all aspects of Muslims' lives, irrespective of when or where they live. Shariah is characterized as a "complete way of life" (social, cultural, military, religious, and political), governed from cradle to grave by Islamic law.

Another perfect example of liberal think. Going to the extreme. And you wonder why there is no compromise. Because when you liberals go to the extreme, we end up hearing "sharia law" or racist, bigot, give terrorists guns, war against women, hate old people, hate minorities, hate illegal aliens, and hate the poor misunderstood terrorists.
Ok,you win. Now go away happy in knowing that you once again diverted the subject. You are the career victims, the misunderstood ones. So, go in peace but just go away.

You are right. I misunderstood your point. You are in favor of compromise, as do I. You see shades of grey, so do I. I'm the last person that is pushing for hate. You can be second from last.
