They have some of these in the Tampa Area. Never been to one though. Wawa - Home Page (https://www.wawa.com/)

There is a WaWa in Clermont. Please explain to me what is so special about these convenience stores?

For some people it is the food that they make, for some it is their coffee and for others they usually have the best gas prices. No matter where they are or when you go they will always be busy but they are very good about getting you in and out also. For me personally it is their coffee and breakfast sandwiches - they are to die for.

They have been sprouting up all over Orlando in the last few years and I will go out of my way to go to one.

To answer your question, one of the kewl things (in my mind) is that they have a system where you can order sandwiches from a computer and then it will be made to order while you wait, without standing in a line. In addition, their stores are clean, well lighted and roomy.

They also have an excellent selection of pre-made sandwiches, healthy snacks and a fountain drink machine that once you get the hang of it, dispenses just about every type and concoction you could ever think of. And being a coffee lover, they have a great selection with a setup away from the dispensers that makes it easy to put anything you choose in it.

If the rumor is true (and I really hope it is), they better make sure they have a huge parking lot (most of them do anyway) because I can see it as being hugely popular at that location.

I'm in favor of any business coming to TV, that benefits it's residents.

I never frequented Wawa's in CT when i was there but several people I knew loved them. I'll have to try them when they arrive.

Be interesting to see what it does to the traffic at that intersection. That land will be annexed into Wildwood.

Jimmemac, since you're from Havre de Grace then you probably had stopped at the WaWa in Abingdon, Maryland a few times. I lived right across the street behind the shopping center. When that place opened in 2004 it was an immediate hit. However, circling the gas pumps waiting for a spot was not fun. I did like their sub sandwiches, especially since you entered all your ingredients on a touch screen and had them made to your tastes. I eventually moved to a different station, that place was so busy it was almost like bumper cars.

My favorite subs here is Jersey Mike's over in front of Target and I spoke with Randy their Manager just last week. He said they probably won't put a store at 44 and Morse in the new Publix shopping Center, but rather on 466 in front of Walmart by NYPD Pizza. He couldn't tell me anymore details. They will be close to the new WaWa and Jersey Mike's has the best subs around in my opinion. So I guess I won't go there as much if that happens.

A point of history. WAWA just closed their original store that they open in Folsom, PA. They opened a Super WAWA just two blocks away at Mac Dade Blvd and Rt 420. They are all well run.

I had never been in one before this past Saturday. Very impressed with the customer service.

We stopped at one for the first time on a trip to New England because of the gas prices and decided to grab something for lunch. We got a couple of pre-made chicken wraps to eat while we drove. We couldn't believe how loaded with chicken they were. Since then we have stopped at WAWA when in Clermont and even took my SIL there for lunch when she visited. Never been disappointed.

Have been to a Wawa once before (Margate City NJ) and look forward to its opening. But I also wonder about the traffic configuration at that site. Can't see how it could be an easy in and out. I hope I'm wrong.

There was a WAWA between our house and the hospital. When my husband had surgery and was in the hospital for several days, I ate every meal at WAWA. Had coupons so cheap, good and convenient.

466

The over building on the two lane CR 472 and the continuation of building on 466 is making access to 301 and 475 more difficult. I suspect something is in the works to one day alleviate some of this congestion. Expansion of territory is in our DNA but so is adaptation and the aversion to taxes, hence the massive movement to Florida

Perhaps they'll add rotaries to better deal with the traffic?

I don't believe I have ever been to a WaWa. Sounds mighty good. I will have to try it.

However, knowing the TOTV forums, how soon after they open, will there be a complaint about the food, drinks, or customer service and we see the reply, "Well, what did the manager say"?

From Wikipedia: The name of the town Wawa is derived from the Ojibwe word for the Canada goose (taken from The Song of Hiawatha). The company is owned by a family named Woods, one of the largest privately owned companies in this country. Really interesting story, sounds a lot like the Morse story.

Indian names are very unusual - we sold our northern home to a couple from Ho-Ho-Kus and when I saw that on the purchase order I thought it was a joke until I researched the name and found that the median price of a home in Ho-Ho-Kus is $1M.

The only thing I remember about WAWA, it was a good pit stop gas & restroom--can't get excited about any roadside , food -when we did a 8 month cross country tour subway was our bailout food in an emergency--Denny's in Billings, Mt was the absolute worst meal of the entire trip--chicken salad hacked out of a chicken roll

When we first moved here, we met a very nice couple. The wife had an unusual first name. She told us that her mother had given her that name because of her friendship with a Native American. I asked her if she knew what her name meant. She grinned and said, "Yes. It means 'Drinks like fish'."

From 2004 to 2011 I lived across the street from a WaWa. It was great at first, but after awhile it was a real nightmare trying to get to a gas pump. You generally had to wait for someone to leave and then try to beat someone else to the pump. I'm pretty happy with the Marathon station on 466A, the air is also free and always works.

Inside the WaWa, it was nice, but no different than any other large convenience store except for the subs. I usually bought the subs that were ready made in the little plastic boxes that sat in the cooler display in the middle of the store. Once in a while I would place an order and had one made. The touch-screen order system had you decide on everything from type of bread to mayo or mustard, bacon, cheese, I don't think no two sandwiches came out alike.

They added a second WaWa in my town, here's a photo of two cars getting together at the pumps in Bel Air, Maryland.

http://cdn.patch.com/users/57041/2015/04/T600x450/201504551d9e8837522.jpg

This is one of the screens for ordering, there is more, it's almost like a test.

Don't get me wrong, I love WaWa Subs, especially if my only other choice was a Subway Sub, those are terrible. However, my favorite is Jersey Mike's Subs. Last week I was at their shop in front of Target and I asked the manager if they were expanding in the local area. He said they are considering putting a store in front of Walmart by NYPD Pizza. That's only a 1/2 mile from the new WaWa location. If that happens, I know where I'll be eating.

According to the news site that cannot be named, the new WAWA will be located on the northwest corner of the intersection of County Road 466 with U.S. 301.

Thanks Bogie. Perhaps Oxford is not incorporated or land does not need to be contiguous to be annexed in the State of Florida. A WAWA is a pretty good size business and would be considerable taxes for Wildwood.
