Just wondering why some peanut butter cookies and peanut butter crackers, etc. are contaminated with the salmonella bacteria. Does the baking not kill it or does the contamination occur after cooking? We're told to cook meats and eggs thoroughly to kill it in them.

The contaminated product was knowingly sent out to school lunch programs and nursing homes.
The executives of this processing plant should be prosecuted and frog-marched to their prison cells!

between crackers, etc goes in after baking.
The FDA is not going to go out on a limb and advise it is OK to bake with it because they do not know if that in fact will negate the effect.
It is too easy to avoid buying the recalled or affected products. Just but it in a jar and all is OK.
