Just arrived yesterday and set up 2 laptops. They both can see a couple of wireless networks but the signal is not strong enough to use. We have cable modem in the house and it works fine on one laptop but the other won't connect when plugged in. Any suggestions for a fix?

There are many devices for enhancing a weak wireless signal. Some very inexpensive. Take a look at www.wifi-link.com for available devices.
Not knowing your operating system I can't be much help with your wired ethernet connection however there is no reason why your computer won't connect to a modem. Try going to the "control panel" on your computer and viewing connections and clicking on the one you want. Good luck

Have you disabled the firewall on each 'puter? Really frustrating situation; been there and think it fixed itself somehow. I had a terrible time attempting to get my printer set up on wireless; never succeeded here in FL but it's all working great in MA. Go figure????

I am assuming that there is no wireless router connected to the cable modem. If this is the case, then I would recommend purchasing a wireless router. Walmart has them for a very reasonable price, and they are relatively easy to setup.
On the laptop that will not connect when plugged in, check the network settings to make sure that they are set to automatic addressing (DHCP).
