Right up front ... I'm an animal lover. I have a dog that I walk in the villages. I carry plastic bags with me and pick up after my dog. I am very discouraged by some of the nasty hateful people that make an issue if a dog happens to pee on their grass. I had a crusty woman scream out her window because my dog had the audacity to pee partially on her yard. I feel sorry for people who have to be around someone so tightly wound. Glad I'm moving to another area. :a040:

Why does any dog owner think it's ok for their dog to pee on someones lawn? It's PRIVATE property, I don't pee on YOUR lawn. Besides, it doesn't do the lawn any good.

...."blockin' out the scenery, breakin' my mind". Some people have nothing better to do. Just go about your way and ignore them.

What harm does it do? My two little dogs pee on my yard all the time; I've probably got the most beautiful lush grass in The Village of St. James and their pee has never killed a blade of my grass; again, what does it do? Full disclosure, I'm a dog lover; obviously, SOMEONE is not. Post a "private property" sign on your lawn, Joel, and I'm sure you won't get anyone on your property.

Glad I'm moving to another area.
Another area of The Villages, or another area of Florida?

Out near the curb its not YOUR
property . It's public property as the villages own a right away from the middle of the road. So get over it about dogs peeing on your lawn.....

Of course you're right. And I do think the OP is overreacting. But IMO that is a weak argument. You are required to mow and maintain that right-of-way strip. That should be respected by others, not used as an excuse.

I have two dogs in this fight, and I must say, their pee does indeed kill the grass. First it turns yellow, then it dies, then weeks later it grows back. It could be the fact that they are big dogs, or it may be the breed (a former one killed the grass too). In our neighborhood the people with big dogs don't let them pee on other people's yards. I don't get bent out of shape--the little dogs don't seem to harm our lawn.
One of our dogs is trained to pee in the landscaping stones (doesn't kill the bushes). The other one is too rickety to balance on that and so is systematically beating the heck out of one part of the backyard. A small price to pay for having this old guy.

"not YOUR property" then why are folks paying taxes on that lawn area at the curb rather than the holder of the right-of-way easement? Complicate that by the fact that if it is owned by the Villages then it belongs to TV and is not public property unless so declared!
I don't like to assume things, but I'll go out on a limb and guess that you are referring to a right-of-way easement that has been granted for a variety of purposes which mostly involve utility issues.
If so - that right-of-way was NOT granted for the comfort of some dog coming along to use the lawn as a site to pee and/or poop.

Please don't pee on my leg and then try and tell me its raining. Please don't litter my yard with your cigarette butts, paper coffee cups or pups poop or pee. Let me be.

The second day after I moved to The Villages one of my 2 little dogs peed on a neighbor's fire hydrant. A lady came out of the house and started yelling at me. It was not a very warm welcome to the neighborhood and is something that I have never forgotten, but it is what it is.
