I just received a call and my caller ID registered Comcast. Comcast has called me before for legitimate reasons. However I answered caller asked if I was Rubicon, I said yes and then hung up. Its a scam...wonder if they wondered if we were home. anyone have a better feel for this activity?

Whenever Comcast called here, they had my real name, not a screen name. This sounds like ToTV may have been hacked, or someone (aka toll) is going through the user profile info. First, check you user profile, and eliminate all info that is not absolutely necessary, get rid of phone number, real name, address, and any other personal info. Then be prepared to start screening all of your phone calls. I made the mistake of answering an unknown phone number after the 3 or 4th call (this should have been a hint). Since then I have had several calls from places or vendors I have never heard of, so we generally do not answer the phone. If they leave a message, they get a call back, if not we do not worry.

You did something on line to get the governments attention and they are now investigating you.

villagetinker: Thank you for replying... so sorry for the faux pas they did not use my screen name they use my real name I still trying to stay stealth on TOTV. Probably should go to a Crisper's meeting.

I wa caught off guard because Comcast has called me in the past. Normally let the phone ring and if its important they leave a message. It was one of those "I could have kick myself moments"

OK, I have gotten calls from Comcast in the past, generally they were trying get me to re-up my contract or to get additional services, and occasionally comments or recent service.

I'd guess it was legit and Comcast was just trying to sell something. Hard to tell since you didn't listen to any of the spiel.

The caller ID signals a call from Comcast. Stupid me picks up the phone without thinking first. what sounds to me like a young white female asks "Is this .....? I respond yes. She immediately closes our connection.

Perhaps its an admirer and my wife should be jealous:D

Stupid stupid stupid me:D

There may be a less-nefarious answer than what folks are positing. It might have been a Comcast phone service customer who never set up (or blocked) their callerid information. Its possible that in that case the callerid information defaults to the name of the provider.

Thank you for being patient with me. I read your post three times and still wonder why she asked me if I were ------ and when I replied in the affirmative she hung up?

I'm not inclined to wearing tin foil hats but ....curious

That is pretty odd, although perhaps something happened at her end needing her immediate attention and she had to hang up the phone to go take care of it. I'd forget about it unless it happens again ...
