Flags have been at half-mast too much lately. I truly pray we find a way to end this hatred and violence.
Bless those fallen officers, their families and the other victims. There just are no words.

What's the rule for flying a flag that cannot be flown at half mast? Do or don't?

If you can't fly your flag at half staff, you are to tie a black ribbon at the top of the pole.

My wife and I cried today; we cried for the 5 Police Officers killed in Dallas; we cried for our son, a member of the KCPD Swat Team and all the members of Law Enforcement everywhere for the hard times they have now; we cried for his family and all the families of LEO's who have to listen to all the people wanting to kill our Police Officers; we cried because we both have been there and have lost brothers and sisters in blue. Please drop down on a knee sometime today and say a prayer for the safety of these people in blue. #bluelivesmatter

From Wikipedia:
In the United States, the correct term for non-nautical use is "half-staff." While the term "half-mast" is commonly used colloquially in place of half-staff, U.S. law and military tradition indicate that "half-mast" is reserved to usage aboard a ship, where flags are typically flown from masts, and at naval ships ashore.[42][43] Elsewhere ashore, flags are flown at "half-staff." In addition, flags are lowered to half-staff, not raised.

I understand the OP's concern with rules, so as never to degrade our beautiful national symbol. However, I think we just need to say how very sad we all are to see this horrible thing happen. I am worried that we won't be able to get strong men and true to protect us as police officers if this continues. How we fly our flag today is not as important as that we fly our flag in their honor. I am very concerned about the future of this country. We must respect our authority or we will live with no order and in complete anarchy..
