There is the line-HAPPINESS IS THE ABILITY TO SEPARATE THINGS THAT YOU CAN DO SOMETHING ABOUT FROM THOSE YOU CAN'T.

I can't do that either.

Happiness is accepting your slavery? You should TRY to fix everything you can.

He's no Bob Dylan

The eastern world it is exploding
Violence flarin', bullets loadin'
You're old enough to kill but not for votin'
You don't believe in war but whats that gun you're totin'?
And even the Jordan River has bodies floatin'

But you tell me
Over and over and over again my friend
Ah, you don't believe
We're on the eve of destruction

Don't you understand what I'm tryin' to say
Can't you feel the fears I'm feelin' today?
If the button is pushed, there's no runnin' away
There'll be no one to save with the world in a grave
Take a look around you boy, it's bound to scare you boy

And you tell me
Over and over and over again my friend
Ah, you don't believe
We're on the eve of destruction

Yeah my blood's so mad feels like coagulating
I'm sitting here just contemplatin'
I can't twist the truth it knows no regulation
Handful of senators don't pass legislation
And marches alone can't bring integration
When human respect is disintegratin'
This whole crazy world is just too frustratin'

And you tell me
Over and over and over again my friend
Ah, you don't believe
We're on the eve of destruction

Think of all the hate there is in Red China
Then take a look around to Selma, Alabama
You may leave here for four days in space
But when you return it's the same old place
The pounding of the drums, the pride and disgrace
You can bury your dead but don't leave a trace
Hate your next door neighbor but don't forget to say grace

And tell me
Over and over and over and over again my friend
You don't believe
We're on the eve of destruction
Mmm, no, no, you don't believe
We're on the eve of destruction

Maybe some of you missed my point. Was that song about 1965 when it was written or was it a prophecy, in a way, of the world today.I guess it doesnt even really matter does it.

It was also more likely the united states would be involved in a nuclear war.
Is anyone marching for integration today?
I never did understand the burying your dead but don't leave a trace line. The best I could come up with were the northern students who were murdered and buried down south that were difficult to find.

The didn't write the lyrics, just sang the song. The 60's got a lot worse.

"hate your next door neighbor but don't forget to say grace."

Sounds kind of Republican, doesn't it?

Reduce welfare, reduce food stamps, defund Planned Parenthood, etc.

Yes, because affirmative action put welfare dregs next door to me and now crime has doubled and the neighbors are ALL trying to get away before home values start to drop.

Eliminate it would be better...at least after a year. Just what we need...give the poor MORE money so they have NO incentive to work. A welfare mother can make the equivalent of $60,000 a year, sitting on her ass, drinking, smoking, and doing drugs all day. If her baby is born with "problems" (from her drug use, etc.) she gets paid MORE.

Yes, it does sound very Republican. They are the ones who want all benefits to the poor cut or eliminated AND are the ones who say that liberals are not Christians. Sounds hypocritical, doesn't it?

ALL? No. Excessive, yes. Should they get $60,000 a year worth? No.

They should get 1 room, minimal food allowance, and a trip on the bus each day to clean graffiti until they find a job and become independent.

This perpetual welfare generation after generation has to end. It's literally creating wild animals in the inner cities. Have you ever dealt with them? They are NOT like us.
