A veteran needs a transplant, but the problem is the VA requires him to have a support person who must attend his appointments, go with him for the transplant, and be with him afterward for 2 to 4 weeks. Are there people who volunteer for this kind of thing? He doesn't have money to hire someone. Or if the money can be found is there people you can hire to do this?

The VA pays for the support person's transportation and lodging. Will be blown by private plane to a hospital somewhere in the US, but will not know until the time.

You might want to check with American Legion Post 347 to see if they can help.
Office is open Monday - Friday 9am to 4pm. (352) 750-2099

spk7951, Thanks, but I think the American Legion was contacted. Also, some other veteran organizations, plus the VA, and someone who has something to do with veteran services. No luck so far.

I am sure there are others who have family that are not physically able to help out or who maybe don't have any family. I just wonder what they do?
