after all if it wasn't already a done deal....like it or not how could Nancy and her troup have a plane scheduled to leave for vacation tonight?
I continue to be apalled by the openess with which they violate the democratic process....and I don't mean party affiliation.....but process.
Totally disgusting abuse of power and priviledge (sp?).

But they keep getting re-elected.
In 2010, here's to a 75% flush of all Congressional incumbents.

Let's say we, in The Villages, begin a movement to colon-clense Congress on 2010. It starts with the first step, but then what? How do we mobilize the boomer contingency to the point where we are featured on the cover of AARP and people take notice? Most importantly, how do we convince our voting group who needs to go, who is a good replacement and who should stay? I know I'm not the brightest bulb in the pack but I gotta admit when I step into the voting booth I get overwhelmed and wish I had a better info base on which to make my decision. It would be great if we put The Villages on the map as the place where the movement started to flush the waste from Congres. Who's in?

Maybe a way to start is to create a club with a catchy name. Then the facilities here would be available to meet periodically.
The biggest problem will be who leads? Does the work? Most club members are just that members. It is always a very small number of folks who do all the work/preparation/organizing.
Without having checked yet, I would bet there is already a movement of some kind in that regard and a web site. I guess I'll go google.
Just take the simplest of acts to get involved....writing to ones local, state and federal representatives. How many do? I do....regularly...almost daily.
I know I am in the minority.
Google time.

The only writing I will make to anyone in Congress who voted for this mess is "Wait until 2010" or the next election for their office. They don't CARE what you write, as long as you end up voting for them (or not vote at all).

For goodness sake---- Obama had such an urgency to get it passed---- then it did---- did he sign it? Nope, he left town to go on Vacation too.
Maybe we can start a new club... The Clense Congress Club"

...but why not start with our existing three-tern Congresswoman, Ginny Brown-Waite.
Does any one think that the banks, insurance companies and real estate developers who contributed $600,000 to her in the last couple of years did so because she was such a brilliant legislator? Or because she was such a nice little old lady from Brooksville who owns a donut shop?
Or do you think the fact that she serves on Barney Frank's House Financial Services Committee have anything to do with it? Or her position on the Homeland Security committee?
For me, any candidate from either political party, would be a good replacement.

Only because of my belief that three terms in the House of Representatives is enough for anyone - regardless of party affiliation - do I agree that Ms. Brown-Waite should step aside and not look for a 20-year career as an elected representative.
The same holds true in 2012 when Sen. Nelson comes up for re-election. 2 terms (12 years) is more than enough for him as well.
