This is my first posting on any sort of board and I hope I get it right. I have been standing at the back of the room for a while and just want to say Hi and that I am very impressed with the dialogue which takes place here. My wife and I are wannabes morphing into gonnabes as soon as we can sell our home here in mid-Michigan. We spent a week at TV in 2003 (still have a $5 village dollar) and we stopped in last spring with our youngest daughter to get her approval (got it). Needless to say we drank the water and are hooked. TOTV has answered any questions we have so far and my congats to the administrators who keep a lid on things. Looking forward to the move south when the economy thaws just enough.

Glad you decided to chime in with the rest of us. And there are many that are in the same boat as you "House wise" trying to sell. Us for one. It's tough all over home sales wise. I was told to bury a St Joseph in the yard. There's a squadron of them buried now and still no results. Like others on TOTV we'll get there eventually.

Julie, Welcome to you too. You'll love it here in TV, much more affordable than CA and much more friendly than LA for sure. Come into chat one night as Donna suggested, you'll meet even more friendly peeps there. Just don't call yourself "Julia"!! :pepper2:
Side note to Donna, that's a scary "Hello" graphic. I won't steal that one, ever.

You got it perfectly. Bad news, though. Your 2003 $5.00 in village dollars is now worthless. Good news, however. I've played a bit of golf here for the last 3 1/2 yrs and almost nobody can hit a lob wedge, 60 degree or not, so you're safe.

Good luck with the house sale. We've tons of Michiganders just waiting to get you into their clubs --- of course we are also overrun with OSU people
so if Michigan gets a football team in the next couple years, you can count on some exciting weekends.

And do not believe any of that specious twaddle about STD epidemics, massive Viagra sales (my older friends prefer Ciales), and financial chaos and collapse for TV when the family takes their money and runs. That's all BS put out by hack writers who've spent 6 hours touring TV and are now self-proclaimed experts. I think most of them spent all their time interviewing POA officers and trolling for harlots at Katey Bells and Urban Flats.

You're gonna love it in TV. This is without doubt one of the most amazing affordable facilities in the world, populated by some of the nicest, most generous folks a person would ever want to meet.

Muncle as usual has it right. I can't vouch for the Viagra or Cialis, but the rest is true. Also don't bring your one iron.

OH...

And Welcome to the Forum. I can point out the sane ones.

Hope to soon welcome you to Paradise.

I've never been into a chat room, just the sound of it kinda makes me nervous. Perhaps I'll wander in and dip my toes to test the waters one of these days. If it's anything like TV I'm sure I'll take the dive and actually contribute to the conversation. :undecided:

And don't ever worry about me calling myself Julia, that has been a life long pet peeve of mine when other people refer to me as Julia instead of Julie.;)

Hi Julie, yes, please dip your toes. We have lots of fun and you sound like a fun person. We're very friendly and will help you along. We won't disappoint you. We get in there late but you're on Pacific time so it will be early for you.

Sorry about the Julia joke, that's an inside joke with the "chatters" and when you come in we'll explain it. Don't worry, we'll like you better as Julie!! Welcome aboard and welcome to chat!!!!! K.

Hey lobwedge60- my hubby and I are from Michigan and have already morphed into the soongonnabes. We are getting ready to put the house back on the market (we had it on the market last year but didn't sell) in the next few weeks. Here's to hoping that all our homes will sell this year and we can all meet in TV.

Welcome Lobwedge60 and Julie,

My wife and I am are also Villages wannabes. Maybe next year.

I didn't know The Villages issued their own money! Wow! I guess your $5.00 is a collector's item now.

I have found TOTV to be a wonderful source of information.

I appreciate all the feedback. Niels, way back when before anything was going on south of 466 you would receive $100 in “Village dollars” to use at any of the stores, restaurants, movies, etc while you visited during the Lifestyle Preview. I’m not sure what they do now. Muncle, WHEN Michigan gets their team back it will be a great time during the last regular season game of the year. Thanks again to all and we are looking forward to becoming residents of TV

Hi Lobwedge60, we are also wannabes ready to morph into any other kind of "bees" just so long as it gets us closer to TV. We are still trying to sell our home in SC and I can tell you that TOTV has kept me sane while I wait. These are the greatest bunch of people in the world and although I have never met anyone in person I feel like I have known everyone my whole life. As for Kathie pointing out the "sane" ones among us, this I gotta see! Go ahead Kathie, show us what you got! And Donna, yikes, what's with the dripping goo?? Although it does have a certain charm.......

Hi Ouma,

Good luck on selling your home. The market is a challenge, but, as we found out , you only need one buyer!

Seneca is a great location - my daughter went to Clemson and worked at a seafood restaurant there for awhile.

Thanks for the encouraging words katezbox. Seneca is a great location and if I hadn't found and visited TV I probably would have been content to spend the rest of my life here......but a visit to TV changed all that. Clemson is a great school and having a college town as a neighbor adds to Seneca's appeal. That and the lakes. But it can't hold a candle to TV. Hope we get to meet one of these days. Know anyone who wants to buy a terrific house on Lake Keowee??

We feel the same about N Myrtle Beach. If I hear of any prospective buyers, I'll let you know.

PS - Cute Kitties!

Thanks on the kitties. Its an aunt and niece from a colony of feral cats. We managed to catch many of them in a catch, spay or neuter, and release program but got a few of the kittens at an early enough age that they were able to be domesticated. We kept these two, my kids kept three and we found homes for the others. I love your dog. Its adorable. If I hear of anyone looking for a house in N.Myrtle Beach I'll send them your way. BTW my husband has two sisters, one in Myrtle Beach the other in N Myrtle Beach.

When my wife and I visited TV in July 2008 on our lifestyle preview visit, they gave us both cards which you could use for meals at certain restaurants (with $$ limits on each meal), a couple of movies, discounts in their store, etc. I didn't know they used to have "Village dollars"
