I have Comcast bundle, TV, phone and internet. What about Dish? Local installers?

If you get Dish, insist on a corporate installer, also their hopper system is stone age-its years behind newer technology--Centurylink has wireless boxes.

Even though our house was prewired with cable that was as good as "DISH" cable--the installation supervisor insisted that "DISH" cable be snaked thru the walls & a new outlet box be installed on our kitchen counter.

That was a deal breaker- went with Centurylink

I had Comcast. Switched to DirecTV. I insisted on a pole installation not a roof installation. The installer used the existing cable already installed in the house. They have state if the art equipment.

We have dish and are pleased with their service. Our daughter has it in another state and recommended it to us.

I had Directv and now have Dish. I am very satisfied with Dish.

I went to the store on 441 in the shopping center opposite Walmart. I spoke with Jennifer Peters, 352.553.4921.

They were having a special for new customers that was the best I've seen from anyone. Worth calling and checking for yourself.

My Dish hopper has a 2 terabyte HD with 12 tuners capable of recording up to 16 different programs at once. Does your DVR do that? I didn't think so.

They may have updated it, but I didn't want any person cutting into my walls.

Actually, the Hopper 3 has 16 tuners that can record up to 19 programs at once. They also offer wireless Joeys for additional TVs for an extra fee. I switched from DirecTV because their customer service went down the tubes after AT&T bought them out last summer. Dish offered me a 3 year price guarantee and a free year of Netflex, free install, gift card, etc. Saved me about $40 per month over DirecTV.

Does DISH have 4K? or is it still only HD?

1) Go to the Dish website and look.
2) Do you realize there is very little 4k material available, from any source.

Hard to tell what the pricing will be 3 years down the road... you can always threaten to switch for a better rate.

To get, hopefully, real opinions. Dish will tell you they are the best, as will Direct and Comcast. This is one of the many great reasons for TOTV forum. Thank you all for your very honest opinions.

After about 5 years and no deals, I pay $112 per month for two TVs, hopper 3, and the 250 channel package. The hopper 3 is the best in the business regarding capability (time shifting and time compression), as far as I know; I think it is also 4k, but not sure. Also, I think satellite is a better picture than cable. At least in my experience.

Maybe you didn't see this post but I personally like hearing the facts from a rep, eye to eye, as opposed to an 800 number. They are always there if you have a problem with billing, etc.

I would only call an 800 number if I had a technical problem.

I have found them to be ethical as opposed to dealing with Directv. Long story......... On the other hand, Directv has the NFL package and Dish doesn't. I personally go out to see the games that are not carried on television but that's me.

BTW - I found the Hopper to be an excellent recording device, that is easy to use.
