Gas stove question

This is our first experience with a gas stove. The back burners turn black when used, the front do not. Got any suggestions?

Had a gas stove up North, the grates were black from the factory, cast iron. Are you getting any smoke from the rear burners? If so they maybe out of adjustment, I would call for factory service. If the home is new, call home warranty for a suitable repair service.
