If you have a pet, it would be a good idea to locate (and visit) an Emergency Hospital before you actually need it.
We got to thinking about this a while back. Spunky (see picture) was over 16 years old and if anything ever happened during non-office hours we wanted to be ready.
Buffalo Ridge Animal Hospital was the closest 24 hour Animal Emergency Hospital so we decided to check it out. It’s located on 748 Village Campus Circle. Well… the GPS had it located by the Villages School and we spent quite a bit of time circling. A problem in an emergency.
It’s actually about 2 blocks on the NORTH side of 466 (Wal-Mart side) and NOT on the school side. Confusing. With no school in sight it’s still called “Village Campus Circle.”
We toured the place, asked our questions, and everything was fine.
As fate would have it about 2 months later we needed them.
While they were working on Spunky a guy came in with an injured dog (hit by car) and mentioned his GPS had him wandering around on the south side of 466.
Though Spunky didn’t make it at least it wasn’t because of time lost being lost.
Very sad situation, but the people at Buffalo Ridge were professional, compassionate, and clearly explained everything we needed to know.

Yes, I found out several years ago, always know where there is an emergency vet. So sorry your fur baby didn't make it, but at 16 years old, I bet Spunky lived a good life!!

Be aware, Buffalo Ridge cannot take care of very large dogs. They would not and are not equipped to lift them up on their exam table. We found out the hard way and had to rush our Great Dane afterward to UF Pets ER (University of Florida) about a mile behind the Paddock Mall. UF has an excellent. competent and caring staff but be prepared they are not cheap.

I'm sorry to hear you lost Spunky. It's always sad to lose a beloved pet.
You make a good point about knowing where an Emergency Vet Clinic is located.
Years ago the only Emergency Clinic was located in Leesburg.
I had to visit there with a dog that started having seizures. He had a a brain tumor.
The Clinic in Leesburg was hard to find; of course I was a basket case.
I'm glad we now have an Emerg Clinic in TV, close to our neighborhood.
(For residents south of 466A, perhaps Leesburg is closer).
It's important to know where your closest Emerg Clinic is, because you may be really upset when you need it!

I'm sorry that you lost Sparky. It is so hard to lose a beloved pet.
I agree that you need to know where the emergency hospitals are. When we were in TV in December, Lexi got sick and needed to be seen by someone ASAP. I think she ate something in backyard of the home we were renting and we didn't have a vet in TV! We went to Buffaflo Ridge and they were great with her. They took some x-rays and made copies for me to take to my vet in Michigan.
Now that I've taken my home off the long-term rental market, I need to find a vet for my babies!

I am 100% satisfied with the Vets at Buffalo Ridge. Dr. Vernon and Dr. Jason are excellent. The vet techs are great and BR has boarding facilities.
