We are planning to move to The Villages soon. We have six cats. Our cats are indoor/outdoor cats right now. We are trying to think of the best way to provide them with an area outdoors. Does anyone have any ideas for us?

Ours enjoy the screened in porch. (lanai) They aren't allowed to run around free here.

Cats must be kept indoors in TV. Sadly, there are many feral cats living on golf courses.

I've seen people build a birdcage just for their pets. Leaving a "natural" grass floor as opposed to a concrete base. It's an expensive way to give your kitties the outdoor feeling!

:agree: with Bogie.

The late Cat absolutely adored the lanai, because he was outdoors but he was also safe. Shortly after we moved here, he was enjoying a siesta when four sandhill cranes flew over, barely above the roof tops. The Cat immediately disappeared into the house, and stayed there for some little while! He didn't like those huge birds!

You may want to build that grass-floored birdcage for your kitties. AND, you may want to get some of the screening that looks like scenery (from the inside) so as to hide the fact that your 2 cats (times 3) can't be seen!

I know, it is a lot, but we also love them a lot. They are all rescued kittys. Three are sisters that I found under a trailer crying and their mama was a feral cat (and had disappeared). We bottle fed the babies from morning until night until they could eat by themselves. They are now four years old.

Thank you so much for all of the comments. We may look into the bird cage idea as it is difficult to keep cats completely inside once they have had the experience of the outside. We would never let them just wander around TV.
