I love watermelon and just finished one off yesterday. BTW I enjoy the tune "Watermelon Man" by Herbie Hancock. watermelon man herbie hancock - Yahoo Video Search Results (https://video.search.yahoo.com/yhs/search?hsimp=yhs-att_001&hspart=att&p=watermelon+man+herbie+hancock#id=2&vid=9cd81cecddc7c77ce1231719b8782f5d&action=click)

I like watermelon, finding a good one like finding needle in haystack, ones in store are flat to sour tasting, must be all the chemicals in the ground down Mexico way.

I remember black diamond melon were the sweetest and they were huge. These grapefruit size in stores are worthless to me.

The best watermelon I have ever eaten is grown around Amarillo, TX. It is yellow inside, not red, and has wonderful flavor and texture. The best red watermelon I have had was in Vietnam a few years ago. Very fresh, ripe and brilliantly red.

I was so lucky to find a huge, oblong melon (with seeds!) this week and it tastes like the watermelons my dad used to bring home from the farmer markets!!! It's such a treat! Generally, watermelon is one product that modern farming methods have NOT improved!

Earlier this year we planted one watermelon plant. In the last month, we harvested 5 watermelons from it. Finally pulled the plant out. They were all very sweet, juicy and good!

Here is one of them, just after picking.

Beautiful!

If I recall correctly I read somewhere the original small development started by Harold Schwartz was amid some watermelon fields; they should grow quite well in the area.
