where you all go to purchase furniture. Now that we know we are going forward with our home purchase in Silver Lake, we need to purchase a living room and 2 bedrooms of furniture.

Furniture Country that has been discussed on these boards sounds like a store we should stay away from and I think Southern Lifestyles in LSL is out of our range.

Kent's furniture was one store suggested to us, but there is no website where I can view their collections and I don't recognize the furniture collection names that someone there named Kevin gave me - can't find the cllections on the web, either.

Any suggestions that can be offered are appreciated.

Welcome njbchbum, when are you arriving? We'll welcome you as we do all newbies. I used Babcock for most of my furniture, the best store is north of 466a on 441/27 in a shopping plaza. The young man there is very accommodating and all my furniture was delivered in a matter of days. Good quality and excellent service. Babbette's is also good but I've never personally used them.

Let us know how else we can help you. Any other questions, do a search in the forum and you'll find tons of information. Good luck!!

Now here's a topic with which we have lots of experience. I have dragged my husband all the way from Ocala to Leesburg, looking at furniture. Kent's Furniture in Belleview carries Lane upholstered goods. You can find that line on the web. They also carry Capri sofas and Carlton sofas which are made in Ocala. The prices are good and they dare to stock imaginative fabrics on their floor samples. There is no sales pressure and the customer service is good.

Showcase Direct is an offshoot of Southern Lifestyles. They have some furniture set up like Rooms to Go at good prices. They carry mainly Flexsteel, Broyhill, and Ashley lines. We just ordered an item from them today.

Babettes of Leesburg has given wonderful service. We've bought there three different times. The sales people are knowledgeable and very nice. Our first order was for bedroom furniture we had seen in a store 230 miles from here. Although they said it might take 8 weeks, we couldn't believe when it arrived in under three weeks. They carry some stylish furniture at very competitive prices. You'll find numerous brands there including Winners Only.

We visited Kanes in Ocala but we had to extricate ourselves away from the sales people. It was like shopping for a car. We won't return.

Good shopping!

We bought some furniture in Calif at JC Penney, no interest or payments for 18 months, free delivery to TV (from their central warehouse in Georgia). Price was less than half what Southern Lifestyles was selling the same items.

There are some great buys on Craig's List, for all types of furniture.
