Some nice poster listed several demographics regarding Villages residents at one time on this forum. The information was quite helpful and informative. However, the information pertaining to "yearly income" was an average, which can be difficult to interpret into real terms. We currently live in a retirement, golf community in Savannah where some residents own $2 million homes and some live in $350,000 homes. That variation creates a huge difference when issues are averaged. So, here is my question:
As my wife and I reach our retirement time and sell our business, we are in a debate about how much yearly expenses we will incur. We understand that the biggest expense is the price of the home we purchase. Obviously larger homes are usually more expensive to own, maintain, and pay taxes on as opposed to a smaller home. As a result, can anyone give me a "ballpark" figure for yearly expenses on a couple living in a $250,000 to $300,000 home?
We're looking to determine a total amount needed per year without things like vacations or other personal choice luxuries. Just the basic costs of daily living at the Villages. Thanks in advance.
