as we have bantered about many times on this forum. This article does a good job of saying....yo....remember the problem? get ready!!!

Read it. We can debate whose side the author is on on what his party affiliation is....or what his lever is....none of that matters....what matters is the pending, huge problem that WILL rise it's head and then it will be too late....AGAIN!!!!

Read it:

One way or the other today's so called financial crisis WILL BE dwarfed by the energy crisis that is waiting to happen

Where is the new team in Washington on this one? You want to create jobs...throw as much money at the coming energy crisis as we are the feel good programs....if we don't ya ain't gonna feel good...none of us!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You are absolutely right that the need for energy independence has not gone away. The need is increasing exponentially if we are ever to get our economic house back in order. The article is an excellent one.

Today the one man who is working effective on this issue in a bipartisan manner is T. Boone Pickens. He has been the primary champion of well-thought out plans for energy independence starting with the development of wind power (he has invested over one billion of his own money there and led a syndicate that has invested over five billion with much more to come). He has been the champion of wind power, using natural gas to fuel heavy trucks and upgrading the nation's electric grid. That Boone Pickens has been the bipartisan/nonpartisan leader of this effort is remarkable considering that he has always been a staunch conservative and a supporter of the Republican Party.

At the recent energy summit meeting attended by such luminaries as Presidents Obama and Clinton, VP Gore, the leaders of congress and the appropriate committee chairs, Boone Picken was one of the few people fully participating that actually understood the energy business. The degree to which Boone has worked for the interests of America and ignored party lines was best illustrated by the Chairman of the House Energy Independence and Global Warming Committee - Congressman Ed Markey of MA. Congressman Markey is quite liberal, even by Massachusetts standards. Yet he said, "I thought I would never say this, but I am in 100% agreement with Boone Pickens on this issue."

Energy independence is an absolute need for this country. Right now, the only effective leader that is respected by everyone is Boone Pickens. He has acquired his influence through an army of people who support the idea of making us free of dependence on foreign oil. I am not a joiner, but have joined his army and am working for an effective nonpartisan solution to our energy problem. The people in this part of Talk of the Villages are politically aware and recognize that the fact that Boone Pickens could have hundreds of thousands of e-mails dumped on the desks of the other participants in this summit made him and his ideas important. Without this, we would never have had a chance of the need for the development of wind and solar power, the creation of a new national grid and the beginning of the acceptance of the idea that we really need nuclear power being considered.

Please come with me and join Pickens Army at pickensplan.com/. At this point we may not be able to do much to leave our grandchildren free of debt, but we can still work to make them energy independent and thereby provide route for getting out from under.

to the rest of the world that we are serious than it is real relief but should be done...it will provide US income and NEW JOBS.

Pickens needs to be supported by government funds to exploit wind...it will only create non imported fuel based energy and the manufacture, installation and maintenance will provide NEW JOBS.

New refineries to back up and replace the old non efficient ones would eliminate price spiking, improve efficiency of production, lower the cost and provide NEW JOBS.

Nuclear is a no brainer held at bay by the uneducated...the research, development, construction, manufacture, operating and maintenance will provide NEW JOBS.

Clean coal....an unlimited supply in our back yard...completely blocked by the knowledge stunted politicos )now including the new Obama appointee to HHS!!)....Biden says China needs to use clean coal technology to clean up the environment...what about here in the good old USA...more research, development, facility construction, equipment manufacture, operating and maintenance will provide NEW JOBS.

And just more research into all the other technologies that take us away from foreign supply.

It is a dire need to do all of the above. There could easily be an "energy bail out" bill funneling billions in this direction where we the people would experience a direct benefit immediately with the added emphasis of the USA returning to it's prior days of world leadership and innovation with direct benefit for we the people first and the rest of the world second.

Like the industrial revolution why can we not DEMAND an ENERGY REVOLUTION? Politics be :cus:

Talk about lawmakers providing a stimulus for energy independence that can only lead to more jobs and more $$$ for their constituency.

Sitting here knowing the crisis is only a matter of time I for the life of me do not understand why this is not at the top of all our lists??
Unfortunately we have grown accustomed to only responding when there is a full blown crisis requiring panic, knee jerk solutions that in the case of lack of energy will not work...as the nay sayers remind us....they are all long term.
Hence there are NO QUICK FIXES.....but why are we not beginning? Money is certainly no object:evil6:

Banking, corporate problems, housing, mortgage problems, unemployment will resolve one way or another....plus, like it or not theses only directly affect less than 10% of the population (OK make it 20% if that makes you happier)...the point in closing is the energy crisis when it gets to full impact will affect 100%.....life as we know it today will be paradise by comparison.

So what does it take to inspire we the people to action? Our lawmakers?
Your children and grand children are in for a very terrible way of life with an interrupted or insufficient energy supply....GUARANTEED!!!!

How much of the 800 billion stimulus is being directed toward solar, wind, water, nuclear, research, construction, manufacturing??? This was a golden opportunity. A win-win scenario.

If you read it closely you will have noted that US refineries are operating at 81% percent capacity....is that in itself not a red flag?

The economy is at it's worst in (pick a number) years. Consumption is down to historic lows and the refineries are at 81%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Most of us when building facilities or installing processes would have a contingency or upside capacity. By our traditional means of determining capacity, this one is and has been in the red. Consumption can only go up...as the population continues to soar.

Another indicator....that we have our heads in the sand (or maybe even some where else!).

The energy crisis is and has been brewing....I guess we are waiting for it to pop first....as usual.

How sad. How stupid. We have lost our ability to remain steadfast in providing for the future as did our predesessors.!!!!!!!!!!!!! The grand kids will pay the price.

BTKI've said repeatedly that we need a leader to stand at the podium like JFK did when he made a charge to the nation that we would put a man on the moon in 10 years and say, "we will be energy independent with a renewable sourse of energy in 10 yrs"... we have the brainpower and resources.... we have not had the committment or leadership.
