having just listed our home for sale...we are looking forward to making our dreams come true by finally getting to TV for life
i currently operate a consultant business out of my current home (incorporated with the IRS and in New York).....and may be interested in continuing the business in TV (hey...u can't golf 24/7/365)
that said...i have looked on a Florida state web site regarding corporations in FL.....a lot to read and absorbe for sure
my questions.....does anyone out there operate a business from their TV home?....if so....any web sites and advice and information in that regard would be very helpful
also, is anyone aware of any requirments or restrictions for operating such a business from your TV home??
comments and recommendations would certainly be appreciated.

There are no restrictions on operating a home based business from your home here in TV. I have a home based consulting business organized under a LLC. When I moved here from Connecticut 3 years ago, I had to register by business in Florida and discontinue it in Connecticut. I had to pay the Florida fee to move my LLC but that was all. I use a portion of the Den for my office space. I am not actively looking for new business but just maintain my current customer base which is just enough to keep me semi-busy and semi-retired and active in the TV lifestyle.

I remember reading differently but it's nice to hear that you can. I remember hearing that some hair dressers, for example, had to go house to house instead of running the business out of their own home.

I have a friend who's a cosmetologist and the reasons they are not allowed to run their businesses from their homes is due to health and safety regulations which I believe are different for every state. I will admit I'm not an expert in that area, I just remember her speaking about it during a casual conversation one time.

I believe if you have a business with customers/parking, in and out, etc.
you'll not be able to do it, as above,
if it's consulting and done remote, shouldn't be an issue

I understood that the original question was operating a consulting business from your home. This type of business does not require people coming to your home for services.
Yes, you are correct that there are some limitations as to the type of business you have in your home, but operating a home based consulting service is not one of them.
If TV was so restrictive about home based business how would TOTV conduct business?

Makes sense!
I assumed that he meant some sort of consultation business where clients would still come to the house (tax, financial, legal) etc.
Even if computer based businesses where somehow forbidden there's no way to police that.

Tank,I have the 2008 covenants & restrictions in my paper work. Number 13- Residential Use Restrictions: Property must be devoted only to single-family residential use.* Commercial and or professional activities may not be conducted in any home or on any property.* Hope this helps.
