Well the wife and I closed on our house on Friday. Now the fun begins, we have been tearing apart the place all weekend. We have 1100 sq Feet or so of some really decent carpet. Green in color, but in good shape. We also have a few walls down too. Does anyone know if there is a company that will come and pick up the construction debris? Or any advice on where to take it? Thanks in advance

Hire a 5 or 10 yard dumpster.

Call your local trash pickup company, and arrange for either a large container or one of those fabric trash containers.

On a side note, you did check that you did not remove any load bearing walls? Our house has two of these interior load bearing walls.

You can cut the carpet up into 4 foot wide, rolled up strips and put it out with your regular trash. That's what we did with old carpeting when we did some remodeling.

Check with Sanitation Information (http://www.districtgov.org/community/sanitation.aspx) in case the rules have changed or are different for your part of The Villages than mine.

Recycling will also do special pickups if you ask but I don't know if the accept construction trash... but you can check.

If you put the carpet out on the front lawn it will magically disappear ............. If you can wait until Monday morning when the regular lawn mowing companies etc. etc. start their week, it will go very quickly. Plenty of people in need around here.
