Why is there a NEW blacktopped golf cart path on the south side of 466 between Rolling Acres and Cherry Lake Road? Since there is only a church, a Landscape company and a new apartment complex in that area why build a golf cart path to NOWHERE?

Is this some new deal that the developer is going to complete the path to Morse and let outsiders use our trails and amenities?

Worried!!!!

Sparky... this has been discussed at length in at least 2 other threads... do a search and read all about it.

im curious to find out why you think the cart paths are only for villages residents? And how are outsiders going to use our amenities? Everyplace Ive been in the villages has asked me for my resident ID??? They cant play golf use pools, play pool, or in some places even eat. So how will a new path affect the amount of people that already come in from outside the villages?

the restaurants we all enjoy....could not survive on what The Villagers spend.
The much talked about amenities, as pointed out above are fairly well protected by ID checks. All the rest only helps keep the things you like here....viable!!!!

It will be a good thing not to link that cart path to morse, Heck you see how it curves everywhich a way, I can see it now. To many brewski's at happy hours and Zeb and Momma might decide to take a trip to lady lake from LSL and get a DUI on that path.

well they deserve to get a dui if they crash into poles or fire hydrants drunk! But honestly i think some of these engineers are the ones that are drunk or possibly smoking crack! Its looks about as safe as that narrow path on Morse heading south over Sumter Lake.

I've watched people flip their carts over into incoming cart traffic. With some of these larger carts and horrible drivers its a wonder i haven't had something happen to me. I have friends that have been "curbed and clipped" on that narrow path on Morse. I'm waiting to see if they replace all the gc stop poles with concrete ones:evil6:

It is my position that despite the fact this has been discussed in the past, it is okay to discuss it again. Maybe there are some new thoughts on it. Maybe there is some new information. Maybe there are people who wish to comment who didn't do so before.

I would hate to think that simply because something was discussed once or twice or more, it can never be brought up again.

Additionally, it is much more fun to have a discussion with real people than with a search engine that is impossible on its best day. And, how many posters here do a search on every subject before they post. None, I would bet. I know I don't.

I have no problem bringing up posts more than once and I am pretty sure no one searches a subject before they post. I was merely suggesting that the poster could find a possible answer to their question by doing a search on the previous threads. I suggested this in lieu of linking the actual posts from previous threads.

Dear Talk Host and Ooper,

You are both correct but a major point is missing. Those of us who have read earlier similar posts should not merely suggest the new person do a search.
I think we should either cite specific threads by name or say nothing at all.

Picture this: I'm the junior member who asks the golf cart path question.
I get told to go do a search by some sage veteran.
I feel dumb for asking the question, maybe for a moment, maybe longer.
So I do a search: "golf cart paths".
I can't see any threads in "golf cart paths" which relate to my question.
Certainly not the two I was told were there.
What to do?
Maybe I should ask the question again?
OMG no! If I did, I'd probably be TOTV's newest nominee for Village Idiot.

I think we show our "Friendliest Hometown" face if we answer folks specific questions with specific answers.

alot of openings on that cart path for entry off of CR-466 to what will be new places. That makes it even more dangerous. Watch someone will try to cross 466 on cart to Chula Vista or Spring Arbor

Is that path being put in by The Villages? I notice the paths in The Villages have concrete curbs and the last time I was through the construction area, they did not have concrete curbs. Hope someone that really knows what's going on will give us the facts.

Who pays for the Village Golf cart paths?

Not the developer and not the merchants that's for sure. If they want to pay for the cart paths then bring'em on. Let's run some paths down to Leesburg and Wildwood. I only get 30 -40 golf carts a minute past my house that backs up to Buena Vista and a few more won't make any difference.

Why pay extra to live in a golf cart community if you can get a cheap apartment in Lady Lake and use a cart to shop, eat and enjoy the entertainment in the Villages.

I think it's for construction vehicles to get from one end to other, there are several points along the way where the path has an entrance to the road...GN

im well aware we as a whole paid for the paths. My brother lives over in Mira Mesa near there. I say if they are going to develop health and business/facilities on that side of 466 in the lady lake area, then why not have it cart accessible?

And as far as having busy cart paths in your area you realize this is snowbird season dont you? Give it some time things will slow down. If i start hearing about drive by shootings in golf carts then I will rethink my ideals on this side of the debate I foresee coming.

Edit: If other sources are creating paths and im not paying for it, then bring it on. TV is only getting bigger and the more than 80,000 residents proves that.

I think you will find that the individual CDD's have the responsibility to maintain golf cart (multi-modul) paths. So, if the Developer builds a golf path to nowhere, he is dropping the maintenance responsibility onto the CDD responsible for that district. This is the old shame game problem that old timers have been bitching about for years here in TV. Ever wonder why the amenity fees go up for no apparent reason? Look into the multimodul path problem being experienced by the CDDs north of 466 at this time. The developer built multimodul paths during the development stages which today are not able to handle current traffic. Now the CDDs are being required to correct the problem with their CDD amenity fees. Developer screws up - you and I have to pay to correct the problem. Put your ear to the tracks and you will hear the train coming your way folks.

YIKES...it only took a few phone calls to find out where there were coming from.

NO...the Developer (ie The Villages) is not paying for these pathways....there for the CDD's are not responsible for them....in fact they are not in any CDD territory. These are part of the town of Lady Lake. Isn't nice to see a face lift in that area!! If they benefit the villages in some way in the future than good for everyone!

These are called multi-modal pathways. They have no access into or out of TV's. It will be nice for bike riders or walkers to use them as 466 is very busy....much too dangerous with out pathways.

Cliff not sure what increases you have...but most Amenity fees are increased (most of them yearly) according the CPI for that month. Each CDD has a budget. Each CDD has home owner elected representatives. There are no increases to my knowledge that are specificly for the cart paths. Yes they need to be fixed but the CDD's in those areas are fully aware and have budgeted (I think) monies to have them taken care of. I am sure when the full budget is available mid-summer (as it is every year) we can take a look at the facts.

The Developer did not build and dump....he built then gave away and sold....smart family!! Wish I was related....or at the very least that smart!

I guess if we really hated the developer for everything they did ....we really wouldn't be living or owning here. Just a thought.

Cassie,

Thanks for checking into this, I had a feeling this wasn't a Village project.

You proved a valid point, speculating, guessing, passing along second hand information, etc. solves nothing. Just a couple calls and the answer was there.

any idea if the multi-modal pathway will eventually be extended all the way out to 441? Would be great to be able to get to the shopping down there. Let's keep our fingers crossed..

Sorry, but let's hope it's not extended. We'll be overrun by non-Villagers.

Everytime I drive to the Lady Lake Library via CR466 I wonder what these paths are doing on the east end of CR466.

This is a multi-modal trail for walkers/runners, bicycles, whatever. It was requested by the Town of Lady Lake for the benefit of the residents who live along the road (notice there are several apartment complexes under construction). This is a county road, not a Villages street and must meet FDOT construction standards. Shouldn't we be encouraging excersize and forms of transportation other than cars? Alternative transportation is something that we all should encourage. This is a small part of an effort to afford alternatives as new construction/reconstruction occurs throughout the state. Notice that all new state roads require bicycle lanes.

Hope this puts your mind at ease.
