Well Gracie....
What's not great about the villages. For $149 a month in amenities you get virtually everything.
Where can you get the benifits of a gated community without paying extra for it? The system they devised is genius.
I walk every morning to a free outdoor gym, ride bicycle for a hour every evening. Never see one piece of trash, I have lived in the best areas of long Island, it can't compare.
99% of the neighbors wave hello, genuinely nice people. Coming from NY at 1st it seems suspicious, your saying to yourself, "what do these people want from me, saying hello?"
Crime here is miniscule. Crime fighting is extraordinary, seems they always catch the perpetrators, even the shoplifters.
Golf galore, pools, every activity sport you can imagine, all included.
Free live music every night at three locations.
One of the funniest things for someone coming from long island is when you hear villagers complain about peak season traffic. Most of them never experienced the 71 mile long parking lot that we came from.
Can't write more, time for free golf.

There are 2 LI Clubs in TV. No one makes fun of your accent at the meetings.

Having moved from Long Island 7 years ago some advise.
DOWNSIZE you don't need everything from LI
Don't kill yourself getting everything just right in your new home.
Meet your neighbors.
Find a nice local place to meet new friends and maybe some old ones.
Get a Golf Cart and use it! Keep the car for outside the bubble.
Check out the many Clubs and find one you might like. As someone else mentioned there's the LI Club. As was asked to join but am way busy with The Villages Parrothead Club.
IF you get bored there are MANY volunteer choices.
Ask your neighbors about DR. choices & Urgent Care locations.
Lastly relax and have fun.
