We're thinking of taking a 3 or 4 day stay in St. Augustine in Sept. or Oct. for sightseeing and relaxing. Anyone have and good experiences to share as to places to stay, eat and visit? Thanks in advance for any and all info.

Take the Old Town Trolley Tour. Hop On Hop Off Sightseeing Tours with Old Town Trolley Tours (http://www.trolleytours.com). You can get on and off at the various stops.
If you like old churches, visit the Roman Catholic Cathedral Basilica of St. Augustine. Built in the 1790's, it is the oldest church in Florida.
Restaurant recommendations: Florida Cracker Cafe, Harry's Seafood Bar & Grille and Hurricane Patty's Bar & Grille.
Really enjoyed St. Augustine.

A few other attractions we enjoyed when we were there in June.
St. Augustine Distillery (http://staugustinedistillery.com)
Schooner Freedom Charters (http://www.schoonerfreedom.com)
And, of course, the big attraction is: Castillo de San Marcos National Monument (U.S. National Park Service) (https://www.nps.gov/casa/index.htm)
Flagler's Legacy (https://legacy.flagler.edu)
We would stay again at: Inn On Charlotte (Saint Augustine, FL) - Inn Reviews - TripAdvisor (https://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g34599-d120172-Reviews-Inn_On_Charlotte-Saint_Augustine_Florida.html)

Mom, my late father and I used to own a condo on St. Augustine Beach. Mom and I sold it after we built our home in The Villages.
St. Augustine is basically two areas: The old city and the beach are separated by the Bridge of Lions! I'm more familiar with the restaurants on the beach. My favorites are--
Saltwater Cowboys is located on the dunes just off A1A Beach Boulevad. Their food is delicious and to some a little pricey. Make sure you check their hours as they have weird hours.
Oasis is your typical beach restaurant/bar on A1A Beach. The food is good, large portions and not pricey. It's where the bikers go for Biker's Week. I think you can see the beach from the 2nd floor but we never go up there because Mom can't handle the stairs!
South Beach Grill is right on the beach on A1A Beach Boulevard but it Iis down the road about 12 miles! It's worth the trip and we love their seafood. And, of course, you can't beat the view!
There are a lot of other good restaurants on the beach but be aware these restaurants are always crowded.
In town, the parking is terrible! We like Harry's Seafood Bar and Grille on Avenida Menendez, Columbia Restaurant (pricier) on St George Street and A1A Ale Works on 1 King Street (on the 2nd floor but they have an elevator). If your near a window, you can see the water and the bridge.
There are a lot of good restaurants in this area but these are my favorites.
Sightseeing. The fort, the trolley tour, Lightner Museum, the old churches, St. George Street and the beach!
Don't forget the two outlet malls off I-95!
Hope this helps!

Having spent quite a bit of time in St. Augustine myself, I would second Sable99's comments.
If you want a really intimate and exceptional gourmet meal, you might want to take a look at La Pentola.
My best suggestion however, is to go through the Lightner Museum first...it really is quite spectacular.
Lightner Museum in St. Augustine, Florida | Cut glass, Victorian art glass, costumes, furnishings, mechanical musical instruments from the Gilded Age. St. Augusine, Florida. Open daily (closed Christmas) (http://lightnermuseum.org/)
PS. Don't bother with the Ghost Tour...as we found it largely underwhelming.

You really stepped up to the plate with all these responses and they will be a huge planning help. I probably should have mentioned that we don't drink nor do we eat seafood so that knocks the hell out of a few of the venues. But with all this info how could we possibly go wrong.......Thank You

Got a chuckle out of this post! I don't drink either! My choice drink is Crystal Light in my water! I still really like the restaurants that I posted earler. I do like seafood and I believe the restaurants I mentioned have other selections on their menu beside seafood. I'm sure most of them have websites with their menus.

We visited St Augustine earlier this year and stayed at the Bayfront Marin House B&B. Nice place on the main drag, easy walking distance to shops & restaurants. St. Augustine Hotel :: #1 Rated Hotel on TripAdvisor (http://www.bayfrontmarinhouse.com/)
While you did mention a trip in Sept or Oct if possible consider going during the Nights of Lights time frame Nov 19th to Jan 31st. Beautiful to walk around and see all of those lights after a great day of sight seeing. St. Augustine Nights of Lights | 2016 - 2017 (http://augustine.com/event/nights-lights)
I do not think anybody has yet mentioned it but our favorite spot was visiting the Castillo de San Marcos National Monument. Just amazing to see that old fort and listen to some of the speakers there.

Better than Dixie Crossroads in Titusville? If true, this is some place I simply MUST get to!
I just checked out the menu at O'Steens and it is very, very simple. Fried shrimp and not much else. And no credit or debit cards! Still, the ratings are really high on various sites though so they must do a heckuva job on those shrimp!
