It has been over 2 years since Havana opened, and there has not been one thing in the Daily Sun or any other Villages' news source regarding the construction of the next golf course. As more people (golfers) pour in to The Villages, there are plenty of homes being constructed, but no new championship golf courses. That is very concerning to me and my fellow golfers. Supposedly, at least 3 more country club courses will be built, and maybe 4, but....when? And where? Do you fellow Villagers think the developer will put these on a priority list with dates set for completion?

We already own in The Villages and picked our house based on location near golf courses. As golfers, if we were to purchase again, I wouldn't do it unless there were a good number of championship golf courses nearby. If the developer figures construction of the courses will drive sales, you can bet they will be built.

It is possible that since the IRS is investigating the tax status of the CDD bonds combined with the market slow down in new home sales and the lower prices the developer is selling for they are being more careful with the money that’s being spend at this time.

Couple of observations....
On another thread, we were discussing progress of building houses; there was an estimate of up to 5,000 houses still to be built of north of 466A. Even in a decent real estate climate, that equates to at least 2 years before they cross the highway. I can't see them building and opening CC golf courses south of 466A that far in advance of having housing around them.
There is a formula used for # of golf holes per thousand population. This is part of the master planning with Sumter county. This ensures that golf courses will continue to be built.... as evidenced by new execs being built north of Sandhill.
What I'm not sure of, and hopefully someone else will pipe in.... does this formula only apply to the amenity supported exec golf courses or also to the privately owned CC courses? If only to the execs, then the Developer can determine when and where to build champ courses based on market conditions. But, as others have noted, if CC courses help sell houses then they will be built.

Not sure how the numbers deal works. But there are 2 CC courses planned south of 466a. And I think 2 Execs planned. That is off a old sumter county master plan. Things do change though.

I'm not having trouble getting tee time either. Played last night at Glenview, and called about two hours before hand.

I play 3 to 4 times a week and never have a problem getting tee times....Its does work on points ...
1 if you play
2 if you cancel
3 if you don't show....
they start coming off every seven days ..when you get about 7 or 8 points then people with less get in ahead of you .......Its really a very good system and works well for this many people......
There will be 46 total golf courses when they are finished.....and if I remember correctly , there will be 15 or 16 Country Clubs ......

I have no trouble getting tee times. I play a min of 2 times during the week (sometimes more) on Executive's with the guys and once on the weekend at a CC with my wife and another couple.

No trouble with t-times here, play or should I say show up 4 times per week at Championship courses. Do give myself a wide time window for my foursome.

Was anyone able to attend and, if so, did you get any reliable info on the number of exec courses going into region 8 or any info on tee times saved for the sales folks? Or anything else? I was dozing, as I've been doing too much lately, and missed it.

The original question was about the construction of new CC courses not can you get tee times. There are many threads about that.
Anyone have new info on the construction dates? It was supposed to be 3 courses south of 466A with 5 execs?

my map shows 2 CC courses and I think 3 Execs. I will look again at it. My understanding on hold till end of year or next, depending on economy.
