The admiral is in the mood for pizza-we like NY style thin crust and the restaurant must have a full bar.

Thinking of Mezza Luna--how's their pizza?

Git to have a full bar- we're not beer drinkers-- the volume of beer is not worth the taste

I have enjoined pizza at Chefs of Napoli on 301 south of Oxford and at Pasta Faire also on 301 in Bellevue.
They ain't like Lee's Tavern in NY but good pizza.
If you enjoy a loaded pizza I can't help. I prefer certified Neapolitan when possible.

For really good pizza, go to Mallory Hill CC. Full bar, too.
Happy Hour pricing for drinks is great.

I also like the pizza (and bar) at Cane Gardens CC.

I DO NOT like Chefs of Napoli at all. Their sauce is sugary sweet - YUK!!!

If you want to stay local Flippers in Spanish Springs has Excellent Pizza. If willing to travel about 10 minutes outside The Villages try Little Joeys Italian restaurant 16840 US-441 Summerfield, FL. Awesome NY style pizza and on Tuesday nights their Large 1 topping pizzas are $7.99. We were born and raised New York and miss the pizza but Little Joeys is very close to real NY pizza. NYPD pizza is also very good on Hwy 466. For the price Little Joeys on Tuesday nights is our pick!

Living in Florida. Living in New York. Pretty good trade off with or without New York pizza IMHO.

Belleview Pizza

Belleview is best by far in Florida. Will make it any way you want. Thick, thin or in between. Very consistent. Most others are very thin only, not our choice.

NYPD not very consistent, was good when it first opened up and has gone downhill since.

The closest one appears to be in Mt. Dora.

We went to our son's home a couple of weeks ago, and his friend owns a Jet's Pizza in Altamonte Springs. They're based in the Detroit area, and he worked for them opening new stores, so when he moved to Fl., he opened his own. He said he has plans for 5 restaurants, and is considering one in TV as one of them. The pies were outstanding.

We don't do pizza often (too many calories) but Mallory is our favorite in The Villages.

Our favorite pizza is the deluxe from Sam's club. Get the one where they bake it fresh and take it home to your own full bar. We also love the Mellow Mushroom pizza but don't like the drive.

Another vote for Belleview Pizza.

Remember - Cash Only (there's a Wells Fargo Branch with outside ATM across Hwy 441)

We had a Jets Pizza next door to my shop in Gahanna Ohio and we really liked it.

It was bad because we had Jets on one side and right across the street was Angies Pizza. Both really good but different. Ate at those places too often, put on too much weight.

I hope your son picks The Villages for one of his locations. We need a GOOD pizza place close.:a040:

IMHO there are absolutely no good pizzas in TV. I like deep dish (Chicago style)... sure would love a great place for pizza!

Angies Pizza is on our list of go to places at Christmas time. I knew Mike Angeletti years ago. Donatos is good, too. For pizza here, we like Mallory CC.

Hi, we do this. Go to the market, get a flat prepared crust, empty, get a bottle of pasta sauce, get some of,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ground beef, sausage, mushrooms, olives, bacon, pineapple, ham,,,,,,,, not all of them, just your favorites. Need a flat pan or cast iron flat skillet.

We put the sauce on, we add the ingredients with the cheeses we like, two or three, and bake it in the oven, until the crust is turning brown. We have a beer or two of choice.

It is great, you may want to do this, you can also control the surroundings. !!!!!!

We used to love Donatos too. After they were bought out and then took it back it has never been the same.

We generally make our own pizza, but were getting a little stir crazy with all the rain

IMHO-Chicago pizza isn't a pizza its a casserole--

Heard in the on of the restaurant here" the food stinks & the portions are small"

So, preferring a Napoli style of pizza, is there any place that does a true thin crust, drizzled with EVOO(extra virgin olive oil), and topped with prosciutto, arugula, and mushroom?

OK my two cents. I was born and raised in NYC and then spent 40 yrs. in MI. I've never lost my yen for NY style pizza. The pizzas at Cane Garden and Mallory Hill are OK but their a little small for me and the quality varies depending in the night and who is making them. I've been to NYPD twice. The last time there it was mediocre with an edge crust of about 2 inches. Bravo in Lake Sumter is pretty good. The thin pizza has a good crust and it's piping hot when you get it. I know that they have beer and wine and don't know if they have a full bar. For those that like Flippers I hear that one will be opening in the new Publix mall near the Rohan rec center. While not a fan of all deep dish pizzas I did like Buddy's Pizza in the Detroit area.
One big complaint I have is that there are no pizza places in Brownwood. I'm really tempted to open a NY style pizza place there and sell good bagels in the mornings.

Giovani's in Publix plaza on 466. Chef credentials are there on the wall--born and raised in Naples and did culinary school and worked professionally there. I think it's the best Italian in TV (Chefs of Napoli on 301 would be #2). Giovani's is small, so it gets crowded at peak times.

Last time I had "for me" good pizza was at Valentinos small chain started in Nebraska I think. Next would be the old godfathers special when godfathers had restaurants. IMO pizza is an acquired taste and it varies depending on where you lived. IMO cheap pizza don't make it good and most likely bad and expensive pizza don't garrentee it taste great either.
