So when we were carting around the new builds, we happened upon the new premier development in Fruitland Park.

Gorgeous area with lake views and all, we happened upon a Augustine that was totally built and we both thought it was to be a show home because it was stunning to say the least.

The pool area had 3 fire pits, one was actually inside the center of the pool. The other next to the swim up bar that included a full kitchen and TV and the last down by the lake.

We were floored.

So anyway, it came on the market today. $1,757,321........ OPEN HOUSE

I decided to do a tax estimator for fruitland park, lake county.....$30,500 a year, and that doesn't include maintence and the bond....dang.....or the $145..

I want to win the lottery so I can have that home.....Amazing property.....

only thing bad about it is the neighbors are kinda close.....but I could make due.... OPEN HOUSE TODAY.....you gotta go see this one....

I noticed in the paper today they had photos of two premiers that are open off Moyer Loop and they showed the inside of one. It had a beautiful kitchen, but what caught my attention was the white cabinets. I've been looking at inside photos of new homes, designers and CYV's for a few years and haven't seen white cabinets in a long long time in a new home. At least someone in the design department has wised up, to me a white kitchen is the best looking, especially when combined with stainless steel appliances.

Went to thus open house, also, this morning. It is a gorgeous house! Did not really care for how it was decorated but still very nice.

What style was it?

I also heard that in a few new models they had gray cabinets. That is the latest thing.

Lots of cherry cabinets in houses in Illinois too. Florida is different.

I can't imagine paying those kind of prices in The Villages in addition to a bond and those taxes, but that's just me.

Isn't the Augustine just another name for a Bridgeport or is there a difference?

Those two homes are models and not for sale at this time. They are both very nice but..... for over 1.5 million, the first one had Homecrest cabinets in the kitchen and didn't even have decorative end panels. It also had generic level 1 granite countertops. For that kind of money, (if I could even afford it) I wouldn't want to re-do the kitchen first thing. Just sayin'. Oh how the 1% lives!

The Augustine is a Premier home model with over 4000 sq. ft. of air conditioned space inside, with a living room and a family room, four bedrooms, 3 baths and a spacious entry hall. The Bridgeport is a designer home model with about 2000 square feet of air conditioned space, three bedrooms, 3 baths and a spacious kitchen and not so spacious lanai.

They are both beautiful and will shelter you against the heat and the alligators and the geckos. You can be equally as happy in either or as miserable as you like. The key is living under your income and with your glass half full.

If I had $1.8 million, I wouldn't spend it on a house! Just dreaming here, but i think I could have a mighty fine one for, say, $500,000. Then I would hire many services, such as Molly Maids, or maybe a housekeeper/cook.

I beg to differ, but I think the geckos own our lanai, they just let us use their space and we thank them for that:bigbow:

I don't even know anyone who could AFFORD a house like that, much less be able to buy it myself. Like the man said, if I had that kind of loot, I'd be looking at several things to but, not just a house. But I guess if someone can afford that house, they have plenty of other money to spend it on things they like.

Why should everyone want the same wood/color cabinetry as what most of us already had--custom crafted--up north!?!

The Stock Market is in a bubble caused by low interest rates and Quantitative Easing. Previous generations stashed their money in Real Estate.

I do not like this tone of bashing people rich enought to buy it. Saw a clip on a $38M house in Boca Rotan which had a Star Trek themed theater and memorimilla, hence my DVR recorded it as Star Trek related. $0K square feet, selling because they want a bigger one. I think they hope when Market crashes as it will, their house will keep its value. an educated gamble either way.

BTW we have Cherry cabinets.

People need to know how to protect their money.

What one pays for or wants in a house is not my business.
We have the same amenities and privileges as anyone else.
Lucky for me, I know my budget won't stretch to 1.7 million.
I'm a happy cabin my CYV with granite and white cabinets.

Me, too.

When we used to look at large homes that were/are out of our price range, we would look at each other and say it would cost too much to heat and cool all that square footage, so we won't but it.

A big house is a real pain--constantly being married to the house, cleaners, maintenance, paint, and having rooms for guests that never show up we had an indoor pool in NC--the chemistry act drove me nuts--keeping it the way my wife wanted

For some people a big house is a smart investment--in the right community your house can double in value in less than 10years.
