So, I added towing to my cart insurance for $10 per year. Great deal!, huh?

Today the cart stops on Havana and I get get towed to the parking lot by fellow players. I call Progressive and after 15 minutes and getting transferred about 4 times, the nice lady says she will text me the info of who will come and tow me to the dealer.

An hour goes by with no text, so I call again, again I'm transferred about 4 times then put on hold for 17 minutes while they check things out. They finally come back and say it will be 3+ hours before they can get someone there!! I say that's BS but they say that's the best they can come up with. I told them to put it on hold, and then I called **** Aid (which I'm not a member of), and they would be there in 15 minutes (which they were!). Of course **** Aid charged me plenty but what was I to do?

All I'm saying is, if you have Progressive cart insurance with towing, BEWARE!!!

Yes we agree they are a bit lazy. Pay in advance right, then get the shaft???? Write or phone Seniors vs Crime
unit, here in the Villages, look them up they are supposed to respond to the rip off artists. Good luck, get the message out.

Guess I will double check my AAA card to see if it covers golf carts, as I have Progressive for the GC. Thanks for the warning.

Which is why **** Aid is worth every penny. Only takes one incident.

I have the standard no frills AAA membership and it does include cart towing with a 5 mile limit.

Cart (spelled with a K) Aid offers instant service. At $40 per year, it's well worth the money.

Drive a gas cart.

I have driven an electric cart for 17 years here. Bought the GAS cart 2 years ago. This was the 1st time ever that I had to be towed in.

We have had Progressive insurance for our golf carts for eight years. Couple of years ago I questioned Progressive about the towing coverage and decided we would be better off dropping the towing option and going with a local cart towing service.

:highfive:

I have broken down a few times, hey I drive old carts :). One was battery related. I was in my Dad's cart, headed south on Morse. It happened as I took a left out of the tunnel just north of the Sumter bridge, two yards up the tunnel hill.

Can you imagine a worse place to have a battery short :ohdear:? I was in everyone's way, with no easy method to get out of their way.

A wonderful man asked the obvious, "You need help"? We threw a chain on and he pulled me home, would not accept $20. BTW, I did not complain once about his gas fumes :)

I have always carried a rope in case someone needs help. I remember one guy I helped years ago. He was pushing his cart, he was red as a beet. I asked if he had the cart in tow mode? He responded 'tow mode' :faint:?

We put it in tow mode and brought him home, he did not need to go to the gym that day

I bought my new Yamaha gas cart in 2011 and signed up with (K)art Aide for $49.99 for two years. In 2013 I signed up for another two years for $49.99. Last year, 2015 I just checked and it went up to $59.99 for two years. It's still a good deal, but I have yet to need them.

My neighbor bought a new Yamaha gas cart. After having it about a month, he ran out of gas. Called me on my cell but I was out of town. Yep, you guessed it, he had to call his wife. LOL.

I insure my cart through AAA, but still signed up with Village (K)art Aide because of all the good things I've heard from neighbors about them.

Haven't had to use them for my electric cart yet...and I hope I never do.

To me, never needing to call them won't be a waste of premiums, in my mind...it will have been a bargain.
