I'm considering moving to TV. I love to play golf but also love to practice same. What are the practice ranges and greens like: would like to be able to hit iron shots off of turf not mats. Hitting woods? Cost of range balls?

At the Sarasota range on 466A, a medium bucket is $4, you hit off grass all but 2 days a week and it is fine to hit all the clubs in your bag. there is a chipping area as well as sand bunkers to hit out of and a putting green.

Prices not listed but you can buy value discount cards (keys?).
There is also Tree Tops range:

There is also a range and practice area at Palmer. I actually find that the executive courses give me great practice. Play a couple of those each week with the intent of fine tuning the game for the championship courses. Uses many of your clubs, 9 different greens to chip and putt on, and keeps you out for a couple hours. And once you pay the trail fee, its free. Where I live in VA, my club range fee is more than the trail fee in TV. So the only time I need to go to a range is to work on some specific shot. Trying to draw the driver, or checking a new club or something. But for general practice, an exec course is great.

In addition to Sarasota driving range, which offers the best of all club practice facilities, you also have driving ranges at Arnold Palmer, Glenview and Nancy Lopez.....Sarasota and Nancy Lopez are water-ranges (you hit into a lake). You will also find some excellent putting greens at each of the 8 courses. In addition Turtle Mound executive course has an excellent putting green. Incidentally, you can also hit your own balls at Sarasota, when chipping, pitching and putting.:eclipsee_gold_cup:

We are renting a house in Largo for the month of May. Can anyone recommend the best executive courses nearby? We have a golf cart for our use but probably not a trail pass. Can we pay a cart fee per use? If so, what is the fee and who do we pay it to? Also, are there any course maps available that show you where the first tees are located?
Thanks everyone! We can't wait to get there.
