Though not a patient, I've heard many good things about hip replacement by Dr. Michael Messieh. My wife saw him for a frozen shoulder, and the waiting room was full of patients praising his work. Hopefully one or more of his patients can respond to your request and give you an accurate assessment of his expertise. Good Luck!!!

HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND Dr. MESSIEH.phone 352 243 6899.
Anterior surgery, NO PHYSICAL THERAPY.
I was ready to play golf after 2 weeks but Dr. would not let me, but I feel great. His office is open on Wednesday only. He operates out of Celebration. Great hospital. Tell dr. Jeanie bartle sent you!
Surgery was $82,000, insurance with United health, we paid $256.

I like to refer this question to data and would start with

Surgeon Scorecard | ProPublica (https://projects.propublica.org/surgeons/)

Read the methodology and then look to see how the surgeons/hospitals have done in terms of numbers of surgeries and number of complications. I wish we had access to this kind of data on a regular and updated basis. It would be a big help.

Dr Joseph Locker used the anterior approach on my second hip. I had no restrictions and drove back to Jersey in six weeks by myself. Everyday I thank Dr. Locker and the first surgeon for giving me two new hips that are pain free with no restrictions on my activities.

Had Dr Rogers from same group. Same result also with anterior approach.

I had mine replaced by Dr. John Williams of Tri-County Orthopedics in Leesburg. Did it in April of 2015 and I'm now playing plenty of softball and golf. No pain and full mobility (for a guy my age).

Dr. Messieh did my hip two years ago and it's great no pain and I can walk. More important no chance of dislocation. He does the anterior approach. He also did my wifes knee.

Just curious, but was it Medicare advantage, original Medicare, or something different?

I just had a hip replacement in June with Dr Ethier who is with The Villages Health Specialty Care. He is a fantastic DR and surgeon. The whole process from beginning to now was fantastic with education before the operation and rehab after.
